    Pros

A job that offers unparalleled opportunities, leadership challenges (in a positive way), and some really good perks.

Where in the world can one be paid to keep fit - go for a run early in the morning or hit the gym / swimming pool. You get a chance to see almost the entire length and breadth of the nation and sometimes other countries as well. More than the money, it is the hundreds of salutes that one gets everyday, which propels one to lead from the front.

    Cons

There are no cons as I see it

    Pros

Honour, prestige, respect and love in the eyes of countrymen, great quality of life, excellent opportunities to flourish as an individual and a leader of men and a fabulous working environment infused with tremendous camaraderie and espirit-de-corps

    Cons

A little separation from family now and then, a bit of rough weather (climatically and otherwise too) to brave through when posted in certain forward areas and a little risk to life and limb which you can't eliminate entirely

    Advice to Management

Just keep the spirits up !

I have been working at Indian Army full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    1. Job security. Govt jobs fans will love it.
    2. Good financial benefits. With great infrastructure for officers, families and kids in peace stations, families get a wholesome environment to live.
    3. Social prestige

    Cons

    1. Steeply pyramidical structure. Only 40% officers make it to the relatively junior rank of Colonel.
    1. Transfers every two years. On average, kids end up completing their schooling in not less than five to six schools.
    2. Often, one has to stay away from families.
    3. Housing is a major problem. One has to wait for up to a year to get a house in the new station. That is a lot considering that the tenure is 2 years.

    Advice to Management

    1. Sort out the housing issue, both for officers and men.
    2. Try to make families more comfortable when they stay separated.
