I worked at Indiana Beach full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The best reasons to work at Indiana Beach include the following: A fun environment with ever-positively mannered colleagues, qualified and capable management that is always ready to assist or teach/train you, manageable scheduling and possibility of advancement to higher positions.

    Cons

As an employee in the Guest Relations/Customer Service/Admissions Department, I witnessed sometimes unfair treatment of our guests and sometimes employees. Managerial Staff would exploit their positions of power for personal reasons, even to the point of fabricating false sexual harassment reports against individuals they disagreed with.

    Advice to Management

You literally couldn't fix this if you tried, it's slipped too far into disarray and disrepair. My best advice is to lower the pricing to something more befitting of the experience any guest is capable of having there; Marginally fun, at best.

Not being able to get out of the hot weather conditions
The guests can be very rude
    Understaffed at times

    Advice to Management

Hire more people and give them more breaks

I have been working at Indiana Beach part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working outdoors with a wide variety of people, Flexible hours

    Cons

Working outdoors with a wide variety of people, part-time seasonal only

    Advice to Management

Raise your pay rates and you will attract the type of employees that you so desperately need, instead of hiring anyone willing to work for barely minimum wage

I have been working at Indiana Beach part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I've only worked at Indiana Beach for two weeks and I've already noticed that you get a lot of hours if you want them. I worked 6 days last week and work 5 this week, each working 5 to 6 hours a day. Management seems nice from what I can see.

    Cons

Coworkers are uninterested in knowing who you are.
When you're hired, you're told the bare minimum basics of how things work. They don't tell you about clocking in, breaks, ride operations, etc.

    Advice to Management

Offer training sessions for individual departments such as ride operators. Get to know your employees.

I worked at Indiana Beach (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great team of people on site! No day is the same. This is a small park with great history and dedicated guests. Small town with great things in town and nearby.

    Cons

Challenging environment to work in from time to time. You need to learn to be creative with what you have as resources for new can be limited. The home office wants to be involved with day to day processes, but are often so removed from the reality of the situation it becomes difficult for them to provide useful guidance and can become a hindrance verses an asset.

    Advice to Management

There are talented and dedicated people on site with experience and knowledge that can help improve and build your business. Allow them more freedom and provide needed resources to develop the business and create excitement for a great property.

I worked at Indiana Beach full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Gained a ton of experiences that look good on any resume. Met some wonderful people. Very flexible schedule. Good pay. As many hours as you want. Opportunities for seasonal advancement. Get to be around people having fun.

    Cons

Variable weather. Tight budget from corporate and it can definitely be felt at the ground level. Clientele is fairly "hillbilly."

  9. "The company is in a downward spiral and has no proper management structure."

    Pros

Get to work outside most of the time.
You receive free passes for working so you can bring family and friends to the park.

    Cons

They have horrible organization, communication, and service to guests and workers. The park is dirty and rides are often down. This is hard to explain to guests when there isn't a good reason. Management needs overhauled and a few classes in hospitality and employee/vendor respect and retention are needed.

    Advice to Management

Indiana Beach was built on sound moral values of the Midwest, and that is key to its success. If this park is to turn around and remain successful it is imperative that management return to these values. So much is wrong with this operation, but with a firm handed GM and a mature management staff this place could return to its glory.
