I have been working at Indiana Blood Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Rewarding cause, excellent coworkers and fun atmosphere for the most part. Good benefits and relaxed environment.

    Cons

Schedule is terrible in the blood services industry. It's the nature of the beast. We are at the mercy of our donors who want to have us there at their discretion. Poor work/life balance

    Advice to Management

Stand up for your people. They are a strong and knowledgeable group of people. We have an amazing training department and make a lot of things work that should be thrown out to begin with.

I have been working at Indiana Blood Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Better compensation than most blood collection roles at other organizations.

    Cons

Very difficult to expand roles and move up in the company.

    Advice to Management

Better recognize the talent you have and work harder to keep those individuals.

I have been working at Indiana Blood Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Generally a fun atmosphere while at work, decent pay, somewhat safe access to parking areas.

    Cons

Long hours, unstable schedule dependant on whims of marketing department. Job reviews conducted by "mentors" generally take six months to complete and are predetermined by an HR department based in Wisconsin. A rating of "above average" in any category is not possible to achieve, no matter your job performance and the driving part of your job will not be reviewed. ..at all.

    Advice to Management

Marketing must not be allowed to be at the head of the table. Field reps must be held accountable for their indiscretion when scheduling and their refusal to update and maintain information regarding the blood drive location and contacts.

    Pros

Overall concept of the job (saving lives) is awesome!

    Cons

HR and management are terrible. They are all incompetent and have very bad character. They make decision based off what is convenient, not what is best for the business or the employees.

    Pros

Coworkers are hard working, making progress despite challenges.
    Knowledgeable management, industry wave makers.
Branch locations throughout Indy area and select cities in IN

    Cons

Competition is picking up, blood usage is down through the industry.
Main Branch location is convenient to the business, but comes with safety issues.
Steady drop in employee numbers for several past years.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the remaining staff, replacing roles with stretched workloads is difficult.
Yearly employee appreciation events shouldn't be optional.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Indiana Blood Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Collecting & providing lifesaving blood donations to people in need, having fun setting up blood drives, meeting new people everyday and impacting lives of our fellow Hoosiers.

    Cons

Working for Indy Mobiles is like being on call. The hours change at the blink of an eye and they are never the same day to day. This job is extremely difficult if you have small children at home.

    Advice to Management

It would be so nice for management & scheduling to have groups of employees that like to clock in and out earlier, and to also have a group that likes to come in later and clock out later. This would help with a lot of the scheduling conflicts.

    Advice to Management

    Less crisis.

I worked at Indiana Blood Center full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you are fresh out of school its a job.

    Cons

After you've been their a while, you and your accomplishments are overlooked, most of the time when you reach a certain level of income, they find a reason to replace you, no matter how good of a employee you've been.

    Advice to Management

They should hang on to longtime employees, believe me they have earned their pay and they know the business.
