I have been working at Indiana Regional Medical Center part-time

    Pros

Self scheduling, union, tuition reimbursement, health benefits for part timers, community outreach, second largest employer in the county, good people

    Cons

Stagnant growth, fearful of change, not innovative, antiquated EMR system, management with poor leadership, never see management coming onto units anymore to build relationships.

    Advice to Management

Come out of your offices and show your support for all workers. Recruit competent staff. Don't forget that the worker bees of the hospital are the nurses. Treat them with respect.

    Pros

The CEO has high morale values and always uses what is right for the patient as the bottom line. Strong sense of family at the hospital people stay for 20+ years working

    Cons

Money goes first toward patient needs - a good thing but the decor suffers Looks old outdated in some sections. Needs and is getting new computer systems.

    Advice to Management

Embrace change because it is vital to survival

I have been working at Indiana Regional Medical Center full-time

    Pros

Great pay with frequent increases, flexibility in schedule including 8 and 12 hour shifts.

    Cons

Management is terrible. Healthcare benefits are awful for a hospital. High turnover. Computer system from the stone ages.

I have been working at Indiana Regional Medical Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent Regional Community based hospital. Working very diligently to remain a regional facility and keep local control. Everyone has a great attitude and treats patients as I would want to be treated.

    Cons

Struggling to keep pace with competition in regards to equipment and technology because of the healthcare squeeze and economic times.

    Advice to Management

Keep the values and philosophies that have served you well to this point. You should be commended for your efforts to keep the hospital a local regional facility.

I have been working at Indiana Regional Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

IRMC was a wonderful place to work. There was very little separation between staff (i.e. nurses communicated well with lab staff, etc.). The morale was great and every one looked out for each other. I still go back and visit when I can and I haven't been employed there for over two years. Also, the fact that it is still a stand-alone hospital makes change very easy.

    Cons

Same as any hospital - time-off was hard to come by, hours were tough, holidays. But, we all know this is what we signed up for as health care professionals. Equipment and software is out of date, but they were working on it when I left.

I have been working at Indiana Regional Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefits for both full-time and part-time employees; generally nice staff in all departments

    Cons

Considerably short staffed constantly; cut-backs and forced time off to compensate
