Strong vision, stronger mission, fantastic people

    Pros

The Leadership Team at Indigo has reshaped itself to support an incredibly clear vision for deploying multiple products & programs focused on planet positive profitability across the agricultural supply chain. It's hugely complex space, but there is a clear playbook for getting what customers want and need into the field in time to make an impact while it can do so much good for the environment. The caliber of talent is unrivalled. The networking alone is a valid reason to sign up if the mission didn't win you on its own. It's very remote friendly, there is still real and meaningful equity on the table, and I've seen so many worthy collogues grow inside the company during my time here.

    Cons

It's hard work, definitely not for the faint of heart, but the startup burn is lower now than at anytime in my nearly 4 years here.

    Edge of greatness

    Pros

The people at Indigo really care about the work they're doing and the mission of the company. It's a fast-paced, dynamic environment and an exciting place to be. The thought of being at the forefront of something that can have a real substantial impact on our planet is pretty neat.

    Cons

Like any growing company, there is a lot of change. When interviewing for a role with Indigo, potential employees need to understand the obstacles that come with joining a company at the stage that Indigo is at. Sure there are pain points, but if you are proactive and can take ownership for your work and growth, there's a lot of opportunity...it's not anything you wouldn't expect if you do your due diligence when applying.

    Pros

    Competitive Salaries and free lunches

    Cons

Please proceed with caution when considering employment here. The company quietly let go hundreds of us in one in one day. If you have a saving buffer, them go for it but remember do to the lack of Company's Vision you may end of joining us! Also cash flow was a huge issue . It got worsts when a decisions had to be made about if our employee health benefits would be paid. Meetings everyday to determine which vendors to pay and which could be put off. Some upper management were honestly really rude to employees. I am just glad the nightmare ended for me. Lastly, again proceed with caution..Please read the reviews first

Middle and Senior Management need to be replaced

    Aug 26, 2022 - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Base salary, benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision) get better ever year, very generous PTO and flex schedule.

    Cons

The definition of Disorganized: not properly planned and controlled. That is the perfect explanation of they type of company and leadership at Indigo. When the flagship product MarketPlace failed they moved leadership from the grain side to the carbon side. Meaning the SAME leadership that failed the main GTM strategy and product is now running the only program keeping Indigo on the map. The first thing leadership did was place all ground level employees on Performance Improvement Plans, everyone from the new hires to the top earners, without explanation or warning. Fast forward 6 months later when those employees come off the PIPs upper management now claims victory "look at how good of job I'm doing" when nothing has changed. That sums up leadership, it is all smoke and mirrors to cover their own hides. This company is great if you are a 20-30 something year old male who doesn't mind openly flirting on zoom or in person, you will likely get a promotion. If you do not "fit the bill" you get overlooked and have to clean up the mess of the under preforming, unqualified promotions with no recognition. I would guess the pay, benefits and PTO is what keeps the majority of employees because the culture is a toxic relationship. Middle managers that stayed on the failed grain side will say one thing to employees and the complete opposite to upper management so executive leaders have no clue what is actually going on in the company. Indigo use to have something called Skip Level Review, where once ever few weeks we would meet 1:1 with managers 2-3 levels up, at that time employees were actually heard and improvements made. The only plausible reason they would stop something that works is middle management didn't like getting called out. Current employees at every level constantly have feelers out on the job market, the toxicity and lack of trust and morals is palpable.

Watch "The Dropout" and see the real Indigo

    Aug 19, 2022 - Scientist

    Pros

After watching the real story in "The Dropout", I laughed so hard and see that this scam Indigo, is just like Elizabeth Holme's company, nothing is real, is all smoke and mirrors, especially the holier than thou managers. If you want a real job, that actually has a product and follows real standards and values their employees, and they don't treat them like slaves, look elsewhere to a real Ag R and D company.

    Cons

Everything except the salary, but that was not even worth all the time you were expected to put it, every vacation, every waking moment you are on call. When I was fired, there was zero mention of any severance, unlike what HR crows about as treating all employees with respect, all nonsense with these morons!

    Okay. Needs improvement.

    Jul 27, 2022 - Senior Associate

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Fair compensation, good mission, smart people

    Cons

Newer managers need more training. Often feels like they have something to prove in their first year. Poorly managed and unfocused. Shutting down parts of the business with little to no warning. Oftentimes it feels like senior leadership is making it up as we go along, soliciting ideas and feedback like, “what should we do next?” Appreciate they like getting others involved but it’s hard to believe they know where we’re going when these conversations and brainstorms happen regularly. High turnover, attrition, and frequent layoffs. Does not make your employees feel confident and comfortable in their roles when we’re always looking over our shoulders. Morale is low. New management feels like they don’t trust their direct reports and resort to the classic micromanagement.
