I have been working at Indus Insights full-time

    Pros

Pros 1. Company growing rapidly ; opening up offices at US; Biggest campus hiring in the previous recruitment cycle ; emerged as a single startup to give highest number of offers at IIT Madras 2. Very solid peers mostly from IITs, BITS 3. Many new HR initiatives like Lunch on House, Work life days, Indus Tournaments, cook offs 4. Extremely steep learning curve with exposure to senior management and client folks ...

    Cons

Cons 1. People are stretched a bit ; works like a typical startup 2. Growth came up unanticipated hence this seems to be key priority for management so hopefully just a minor blip.

I worked at Indus Insights full-time

    Pros

Colleagues, some projects are interesting, lot of responsibility since beginning like presenting to client's senior management

    Cons

Below par mentorship due to lack of experienced managers (very high attrition after 2 years). People with limited experience manage multiple people. They are able to mentor in terms of technical skills but fail to inculcate problem solving skills. Management is biased and openly exhibits favouritism towards certain employees. High level of negativity among employees - maybe the reason why firm is not able to grow even...

    Advice to Management

Hire experienced people or try to retain ones who leave. Stop openly exhibiting favouritism as it brings down morale for many. Focus much more on professional growth of employees.

I worked at Indus Insights full-time

    Pros

    1. Smart and humble peer group 2. Fun workplace

    Cons

    1. Not exactly a con but Indus Insights is not a proper data science and machine learning firm. It is an advance analytics firm with limited exposure to data science applications 2. Lack of experienced people to work with. High rate of attrition amongst the employees who spend more than 2 years at the firm which hampers the growth. People who lack experience in managing people and delivering projects often lead engagements...

Focus on retention by thoroughly understanding and addressing the reasons that make employees leave. Make employees believe in your vision for the company - working towards a collective goal boosts productivity and employee morale

I worked at Indus Insights full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Peer group, quality of work, steep learning curve, no hierarchy, interactive work environment

    Cons

    1. Work life balance does not exist - deadlines are always set with expectations that employees with stretch 2. No adequate mentorship on day-to-day basis - people who are just one year older than you are mentoring you without the maturity to do so. In terms of hard skills and technical know-how they are a step ahead and can guide you through the initial stages but growth stagnates as they are not able to help you grow...

    Advice to Management

All the fixes seem short term and intent on getting things going for now. Focus on retention of employees and tangibly addressing their issues. 1-1s and All Hands are only a useful tool for communication if people are able to see results after. Employees will stop coming to you with feedback given the pace at which change is coming about. Mentorship programme is highly flawed at the organisation and many employees have...

I have been working at Indus Insights full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Excellent bunch of colleagues, it almost feels like all your college friends joined here with you (friendly yet cutting edge) - Massive exposure to everything you need to know as a fresh analyst. You own your work starting day 1 - There's something to learn everyday; plenty of travel opportunites (~1-2 per year internationally as a fresher) - Almost no politics at work, purely merit

    Cons

    - No perks at work as such apart from the occasional party and lunch; and an okayish office - No bonuses (this is partly compensated by early promotions but a bonus is a bonus) - Long and tiring work hours are the norm (there are good days but the hectic ones far outweigh them)

    Advice to Management

    - Need to put together and implement a work life policy that works - Things are definitely on improving on the perks side, but this is something that needs to improve several fold

I have been working at Indus Insights full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The pace of learning is rapid from the very beginning. You learn not only from the work you do but from your interactions with the peer group as well. The projects taken up are challenging and the quality of the work is great. Working at Indus helps you think in a structured manner and learn to deliver nothing less than the best. The team is the highlight of the experience at Indus. The peer group is bright, motivated...

    Cons

While the work is challenging the deadlines are extremely tight resulting in long work hours (and working weekends at times). In the process of delivering great insights to clients the amount of work and timelines for the same are skewed. While the attitude of the management towards career growth is great they need to invest more in people. Experience of different people at Indus is starkly varied. While some people...
