I have been working at Industrial Distribution Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people, live close, new facility, new equipment, alright place to work, could be worse i guess. The higher up management in constant contact.

    Cons

Alot of overtime low pay to much turnover shipping supervisor dont know what they are doing. Temporary employees make more then senior people. To much change is a bad thing. Management is already talking about productivity numbers when they dont know nothing themselves.

    Advice to Management

Pay more. Lower the overtime. Learn how to talk to people. Dont be suprised if a union comes in.

I have been working at Industrial Distribution Group (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Bathroom facilities are fairly decent

    Cons

    Poor management
    Little-to-no vision
    Limited opportunities for advancement
Verbally promotes 'team' environment, actions speak differently

    Advice to Management

You can't properly manage employees if you're not present. Similarly, when (finally) present, you can't properly manage employees by micromanaging as compensation for your absence. Be more hands-on and familiar with the work your employees are doing, and help when needed. Be transparent; keep your employees in the loop regarding company direction and department status, especially when it relates to any performance bonuses

I worked at Industrial Distribution Group (Less than a year)

    Pros

They advanced me to higher positions in a short amount of time. I got along with my coworkers. And the work weeks were ten hour days four days a week.

    Cons

Quick to advance position without pay uncreases. It was a tobacco free company. And our breaks were only 10mins long

I have been working at Industrial Distribution Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The foundation of what IDG was makes the old company a great idea to believe in. The systems are not too difficult, the work is not earth shattering, and there are some great people that you come across in the course of your employment.

    Cons

Since the acquisition and merger, the executive level management has been on a non-stop restructure and that uncertainty is causing a trickle down in the policies and best practices that the company is pushing out. There are too many changes and new roll outs without fixing or perfecting existing systems and policies and it is causing chaos internally.

    Advice to Management

Focus on cleaning up in-house procedures with critical departments to ensure operations continue.

    Cons

Being a distribution company it is contract work so we are at the need of every customer we are tied with.

    Advice to Management

Communication is key in keeping the focus to every employee

    Pros

Work-life balance was great with this company.

    Cons

Pay was low for the industry. Company direction was changing after being acquired by Sonepar and I think overall it was getting worse.

    Cons

Communication is a bit lacking ever since the merger... Offices are beginning to close and downsize... a lot of talent has left.
