I worked at Infineon Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Stable Plant, good support. International Rectifier site purchased by Infineon. Culture is changing as International Rectifier falls in line with Infineon's culture. Strong balanced HR.

    Cons

Plant Shutting down, no real date set. Could be 2 years, could be sold and not close.

    Advice to Management

Manage production with data, not rumors. Do not be surprised lack of maintenance causes equipment down time. It is called Preventative Maintenance for a reason. Continuous improvement requires continuous training. Watching slides periodically in a cubicle is not complete training.

I have been working at Infineon Technologies as a contractor

    Pros

Good benefits, relaxed culture, smart employees, organized, culturally diverse, emphasis on professional development training, opportunity to grow.

    Cons

Rigid and complex processes for everything, people often do not know who is responsible for each step of the process, global headquarters are in Germany (America is not the headquarters), hire a lot of contract workers, overcomplicate simple tasks, extremely corporate and lack of a "culture" at the Americas offices.

    Advice to Management

Strengthen and modernize culture, simplify some processes, increase collaboration and communication between business units.

    Pros

Good company to work for. Lots of projects and salary is competitive. Top management long term focused.

    Cons

Too much paperwork and bureaucracy. Merger with International Rectifiers has been a disaster for the North american R&D centers. Most mid-level managers from IR at the helm who do not understand the processes and long term objectives of the company. Short-terminism is prevalent.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Interesting work, market leader in some segments.

    Cons

Headquarters is offshore (Germany); US is viewed as a lower-status satellite location mainly consisting of Sales and Marketing, not much in the way of actual product design centers. Also semiconductor industry very volatile business in general, no stability. Frequent re-organizations, acquisitions, mergers, etc.

    Advice to Management

Nothing that will be listened to.

I worked at Infineon Technologies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Super nice people to work with; North America CEO is a great business leader; reasonable pay and benefits; good employee communications; employees treated reasonably good. Opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

Chaotic work processes; non value add processes and highly bureaucratic; systems don't work well; slow decision making; complex organization structure.

    Advice to Management

Hard to describe, but in spite of all the project planning, work is still chaotic and unorganized. There's so much planning that even the easiest tasks take a long time to complete.
