I have been working at Informatica full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I have never worked for a company who really allowed me to put my family first until I worked for Informatica. I am allowed a flexible schedule so that I can balance my family and work life as I need to. My managers trust me, know that I am loyal and stand behind me in my decisions as a SME. I am constantly challenged and able to pick up new skills. I am allowed the opportunity to bring an idea to the table and my management trust me in order to make it happen from review, testing to implementation. Overall I feel more valued.

    Cons

All the recent changes, from management to our internal programs.

    Advice to Management

Ease up on the changes. We went from Public to Private, then internal programs have changed to save money, layoffs, etc. We need to let the waters calm before we rock the boat again.

I have been working at Informatica full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Unlimited potential to make a difference -- very exciting and critically important sector - enterprise data management. Uplifting facilities, open door policy, strong IT support. After significant turnover on executive staff in early 2016, leadership is now solid and united.

    Cons

Pivot to cloud/subscription model is hard. Pockets of cultural resistance to change from old timers. As a private company, no stock plan for the rank and file. Under staffed.

    Advice to Management

As soon as the numbers allow, hire more producers. We have enough leaders, we need doers to spread the workload.

    Cons

Inexperienced Business Development management team leadership promotes poor working environment and low team morale. No formal training-figure it out yourself. No incentive to excel and exceed earnings targets. High turn over.

I worked at Informatica full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Nice office facility in excellent office park. Excellent gym. A line of well rated (by Gartner) products in the data management space. A (finally) stable executive team and strategic plan in place.

    Cons

Technology development practices are not state of the art. The technology stack is not cutting edge. Struggling to become a "cloud / subscription" company. No longer a public company and now a PE-owned operation. Highly distributed R&D operations requiring lots of overhead for communication and coordination (which the people at the company are not particularly good at). HR organization has dwindled to bare-bones. No stock options for many employees below executive level. R&D organization in RWC has a serious diversity problem including almost zero women in leadership positions of any sort.

    Advice to Management

Transitions are difficult, and you have acknowledged that very candidly with the employees. That's good. You have said you want to take the company public again, but what are the longer term motivations for employees to stick around, work their butts off and help you make it happen? Unfortunately many employees will not participate in the upside of an IPO because they don't have stock options. Your new strategy seems good, but there are a lot of moving parts. How will you keep everyone motivated and coordinated? Technology is evolving very quickly and you are not keeping up. How do you plan to play on the cutting edge of data, AI, ML, visualization, and Enterprise 3.0? Finally, focus on building a more ethnically diverse workforce including bringing many more women into first, second, third, and executive levels of R&D management and leadership.

    Pros

    Great products and interesting projects.
    Helpful consulting colleagues

    Cons

Bonus structure has all but been eliminated.
Career development of consultants is not a focus for management.
If you aren't sales you are a 2nd class citizen

    Advice to Management

Be honest with consultants rather than say they are important yet treatment shows otherwise. It's just even more insulting.
