Management has to consider work-life balance of employees mainly the married ones. Mainly the resource given to managers and the pay can be much better.

I have been working at Infosys full-time

    Pros

    - Great technical prowess and true potential for thought leadership in the market.
    - If you can learn to navigate the organization quickly, you'll have potential to capitalize and move up the ranks (read: solid abilities + political prowess = success).
    - Good compensation with ample opportunities for bonuses/incentives (also eligibility for commissions starting at PL/JL 7).
    - Flexibility in your schedule (but also see the corresponding con for this point).
    - Good insurance (premiums increase with Job Level - helps entry level folks afford good coverage)

If you want to be at the forefront of AI, RPA or Machine Learning - Infosys should be given due consideration.

    Cons

While the organization is changing under Dr. Sikka, there are still A LOT of growing pains to be had.

-Your day-to-day experience, as well as your success in the company, will be HEAVILY dependent on your direct manager/boss. Many managers are great people with great minds - but very poor managers.
    - No formal management training (aside from automated learning tutorials on relevant policies/laws).
-HR exists purely for compliance purposes (to avoid any exposure to legal action); they will not intervene or even consult you should you have issues with your manager/team/work environment - their only response will be to discuss with your manager (even if you feel threatened by your manager) - this has been the experience of multiple colleagues, with multiple BPHRs.
    - Work/Life balance is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. There are no norms in the corporate culture that encourage boundaries between work/life. Late night & weekend calls are a norm as are expectations of responsiveness during those hours.
    - Flexibility cuts both ways - you will likely need to travel last minute; either due to convoluted processes related to project codes or a failure to plan/communicate.
    - NO 401k matching - there is a minimal matching that occurs if your base salary exceeds $115k annually, but no where what you would see at another company of similar size.
    - Policies are very finance-centric; all expenses (ranging from relocation to travel & client entertainment) put the burden on the employee to pay then be reimbursed at the discretion of corporate finance adjusters. Even if you're eligible for a corporate credit card, they are notoriously unreliable and are tied to the employee's credit.
    - Darwinist culture that relies on managerial feedback - this leads to inaccuracies in ratings (by some self-interested managers), with little/no recourse for individual contributors (though a feedback process supposedly exists, only some employees have ever had the opportunity to provide feedback to/about their managers).

    Advice to Management

Be transparent - employees are adults and can handle things, even if it's a tough message. Putting on a face that everything is alright while managerial actions indicate otherwise only causes alarm.

Powered by Intellect, Driven by Values - either live up to it, or change it.
