    Pros

Explosive growth, teamwork, catalyst for improving the nations healthcare, innovative solutions designed by physicians for physicians. Excellent financial backing by North Bridge, Heritage Health, Ascension Ventures and Kaiser Ventures.

    Cons

Growth results in constant change to scale. The good news is the company has built a very adaptive culture and has built a workforce willing to do whatever it takes.

    Advice to Management

Keep your emphasis on listening to our customers and employees

I worked at Ingenious Med full-time

    Pros

    Good office location

    Progressive benefit package

Good, hardworking people could be found if you looked beyond the garbage upper management and executive team

    Cons

    Horrible management

The executive team was delusional, unprofessional and would often be seen fighting openly amongst themselves

Previous CEO was a compulsive liar (to both employees and customers) and this became a habit adopted by the entire Executive team and upper management

    Overall toxic work environment

    No sustainable product roadmap

    Advice to Management

Be honest and transparent with employees

Sell the product that exists today, and don't sell a fantasy product that will never be delivered.

Absolutely wonderful group of people to work with. Also fiscal outlook for the company is fantastic.

    Cons

Management is more focused on sales than on technical quality of product.

    Advice to Management

Take a hint from Apple: design matters.

Mobile QA manager very encouraging and always mentoring the team.

    Cons

Management still having the favoritism mentality.
    Vacation hours could be better.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within and stop with the favoritism.
More actively listening to development team instead of sales.

    Pros

Great growth and development opportunities for those that want to apply themselves and want to grow within IM. Growing company that offers you many paths to further your career. Laid back office atmosphere and personable C Suite and HR folks makes it a fun environment to work in. Pretty decent benefits and PTO plan, but could be better!

    Cons

Some VPs shouldn't be VPs because they do not know how to lead and are in position because of favoritism. Re-evaluation of upper management is needed desperately. No opportunities for those not in sales to earn bonuses or prizes for hitting goals, deadlines, etc.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so numbers driven, you are pushing people away because you're not focused on the internal and external customer. Spend time rebuilding relationships with the employees because everyone feels uneasy with recent layoffs and CEO changes.

    Pros

Salary can be good depending on the position. The company has great work-life balance (for the most part). People are friendly. I've worked with some great people here.

Some teams/departments have strong momentum and optimism.

Where the company can go is exciting. The company can grow a lot if things go well over the next 3-5 years.

    Cons

This can be a frustrating place to work. There are some bad processes and attitudes that some in and around management hold on to. It can be difficult to make things better; its possible the only reason so many people stay is because the frustration is offset by good work-life balance.

Some people work hard. Others do not. Accountability isn't there in some teams. Hard workers might get a raise if they negotiate for it, but otherwise you will make similar money to those that don't work as hard as you do.

The company doesn't seem interested in improving features that already exist. Instead, it makes new features and piles them on top of the old ones. Developing features can take two or three times longer than they should because existing products need so much work.

    Advice to Management

Invest in improvements at the VP and mid-management level.

Keep the work-life balance and culture. Spend some money making existing products better so your future vision isn't blocked by the difficulties of an old product.

Reward your hardest working people with more than just trophies (though trophies are nice too).

I worked at Ingenious Med full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are what make Ingenious Med great. Many capable and talented individuals walk through those doors every day. Individual contributors and some middle management make it a great environment to work in, and it was fun at times. For those who were younger in their career, entry and secondary-level positions provided decent compensation.

    Cons

Management will be the death of the company. Many VP and Executives don't merit their titles, with some in C-level completely oblivious of anything other than their own opinion. The company had some much potential, and great market position, but over the last two years priorities shifted away from a core product, and no one with power cared to recognize what customer-facings teams articulated. Career development really isn't there; Management takes a "stay in your lane" strategy. Employee evaluation process is lax, which has allowed many people to stay in positions well past their time and capabilities were exceeded. Capable people haven't been allowed to advance or move into other departments "because they're too good at what they do."

Overall, most of management needs to be removed or shifted to other roles. More open conversation for individuals should be had from a career development perspective. And, most importantly, leadership needs to realize how and why they've gotten to the position they have, and pull their heads out of the sand to fix it.

    Advice to Management

Be realistic and open with people. And stop asking people to lie about the capabilities of the product, recognize deficiencies, and listen to people who have the knowledge and capacity to affect change.
