I have been working at Ingles Markets full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Easy to move up if you have open availability, Better Wages than Bi-lo or Food Lion, Flexible Schedule if you only need part-time/are a student

    Cons

Low wages compared to Public or Whole Foods, Little training/no orientation, favoritism in management positions, hard to transfer outside district

    Advice to Management

Need orientation for all employees, more organized department specific training, more competitive Wages, take employee complaints serious (a manager should not be able to scream, curse and throw things and get away with it), make it easier to transfer to other stores/districts, Give off Easter Sunday and Thanksgiving like Public and Whole Foods

I have been working at Ingles Markets full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of great people work there. Everyone is bound by a sense of doing what you have to do to pay the bills. There is a strange community that you become part of over time.

    Cons

The company doesn't care about it's employees. At the end of the day, even the store managers are crapped on by corporate level management. There are worthless benefits offered by the company unless you're upper management. They might as well not offer anything.

    Advice to Management

None. The problems with Ingles aren't going away.

I have been working at Ingles Markets part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

My location is very flexible when it comes to scheduling. I'm a college student so my hrs of availability change every 3 months but the store manager is really good about altering the schedule to my needs.

If you take the time to get to know your customers its not so bad. Most of our customers are regulars and they can tell you some really fun stories if you give them the chance ;)

    Cons

I've been with Ingles for a little over 3 years now and there's a lot of changes that happened between the time I started and now. Management back then wasn't all that great but my coworkers were awesome. Now it seems the roles have reversed. Management is much better and more mature (they finally got some adults in CSM roles!) but my coworkers have regressed terribly.

    Advice to Management

Take the opportunity to invest in your front end employees. There's a lot of potential there you just need to cultivate it. It would also be nice to make a little more than minimum wage but that's prob advice for corporate not store mgt.

I have been working at Ingles Markets part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy, not a very intensive job, store manager is easy to get along with, customers are easy to get along with

    Cons

Too easy, boring, some managers act as if they have something to prove, others (save for the store manager) are unprofessional

    Advice to Management

You employ teenagers, you can't expect them to act like adults, and then treat the actual adults like teenagers

    Pros

Ingles is a good place to start when your wanting to get back up on your feet for some people or it's a good place to start while your in school.

    Cons

The benefits are not that great nor management is reasonable but I feel as if they could do better.
