I worked at Ingram Micro full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Ingram Micro has very talented people that work there. Although they have a lot of entry level marketing and functional type roles, their management is second to none. Very smart people. They bring in young talent and groom them up. They tend to select similar type of personnel in the hiring process. Those that are loyal and looking to collaborate while working hard.

    Cons

A con to many might be the pay but the stability is what they offer to their employees. Distribution is a high volume low margin business. Ingram Micro offers great experience and long term employment. You would see people that work there 10 years plus and enjoy being there.

    Advice to Management

Ingram Micro is a fortune 100 company. They are structure similar to other fortune 100 companies. Their compensation, training, perks, etc,... are in line with most others. They actually offer great benefits for a company with tight margins. Their stock is going up.

I worked at Ingram Micro full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Large and diverse employee base. Company values are strong and human resources provides decent benefits. Vendor relationships are good and Ingram receives many awards from partners for their partnership.

    Cons

Leadership is basically a fraternity and you either are liked or not. Company lacks profit (outside of marketing dollars) so they cut humans when they need to show positive growth. Recognition is minimal as is employee development. Culture is stale as well with little effort put forth to attract new talent.

I have been working at Ingram Micro full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great people, normal and somewhat boring offices but leadership promotes fun and actually enjoyable team building. Lots of support but the company is so large you have to find it!

    Cons

Huge company... many times it is difficult to find the right folks to work with internally. And while there is a real attempt to act as a small nimble company, policies and procedures make that extremely difficult.

    Advice to Management

Really is a great executive group but if you preach agility... practice it as well and make sure the B level group is bought in.

"Sr Management enrich themselves and workers suffer low wages at the hands of incompetent middle mgt"

I have been working at Ingram Micro full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

On Q2- 2015 financial results call the company reported $300 million in "free cash flow" that they would use to "buy-back" stock to increase the per share price. It worked.

    Cons

BUT only Mgt has stock options so they get rich and workers are still paid well below the avg salary in OC. It would have been nice if Sr Mgt spent that "free cash flow" on their workers salaries first.

    Advice to Management

If you cleaned house of your old, incompetent middle mgt maybe real performance would increase the stock price you would not have to resort to cheating your workers out of a decent wage.

I have been working at Ingram Micro full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Most associates are dedicated to the business and pleasant to work with. Decent work / life balance and compensation is fair for position.

    Cons

Training for new associates is almost non-existent and you must be willing to lean on your teammates to learn the business - especially if you are coming from another industry.

    Advice to Management

Create a positive working atmosphere for your team and manage them appropriately. Don't assume all single contributor associates can and will work effectively and independently. The new collaborative office in Irvine should create a more positive working atmosphere for all.

I worked at Ingram Micro full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Lots of different titles to choose from with the ability to move up the ranks. Open to partial or full time remote working. Friendly environment with supportive management.

    Cons

Average pay with strict rules that limit pay jumps. Not the most challenging environment which limits stress but allows for some mediocre coworkers.

    Advice to Management

Work with HR to offer more competitive salaries that will attract talent. Don't allow the all to common "that's not my job" unaccountable approach many employees have.

I have been working at Ingram Micro full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Steady source of income. They seem to try and make it a great place to work.

    Cons

It takes a very long time to move through the ranks and hiring is very political.

    Advice to Management

Look outside your division for the right candidates for jobs.

I have been working at Ingram Micro

    Pros

Provides a great opportunity to get into tier 2 distribution and gives you exposure to many different technology companies to increase your professional network. I have enjoyed the relationships that I have built within the company which aligns with a current internal campaign "it's the people".

    Cons

Compensation for the work that you do is relatively low. This makes it a challenge to keep really strong individuals in non management roles. As many companies are, Ingram Micro is trying to more with less and it makes it difficult to thrive when there is not enough time in the day to do well with everything that is on your plate.

    Advice to Management

Most of the employees are being stretched too far. I personally think that opening job reqs will make the company more profitable because money is currently being left on the table due to under staffing.

I have been working at Ingram Micro

    Pros

Ingram Micro offers great employees, and an atmosphere with many career advancement opportunities. Benefits like free lunches on training days and vendor sponsored concerts, sporting events and other event tickets is a huge plus!

    Cons

East vs West coast battle for power and sustainability, jobs can move from coast to coast based on management shifts.

    Advice to Management

Management jobs do open up ocassionally, however with the soft job market in Buffalo long term job holding is observed.
