I worked at Ingredion full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Nice co-workers, great pay.

    Cons

I left because of safety concerns. In one building there is production/use of toxic sulfur dioxide. It has a suffocating smell but my manager assured me it was at a safe level to work in according to OSHA so I continued working. After leaving the plant, I continued to taste and smell the sulfur gas for hours. I kept burping and sneezing ( this was my body's way of getting rid of a foreign object). I became lightheaded so I proceeded to call poison control and they told me what to do. So as you can see they aren't "safety-oriented" really. There are railroads on the plant but no gates or flashing lights to warn pedestrians or cars when a train is coming. Accidents have happened in the past as well with train cars. Don't work here. I looked at the reviews here but ignored them. They were right.

    Advice to Management

Be serious about safety unless you want law suits over safety measures.

    Pros

OK place to work if you only have a high school diploma. You will get paid pretty well.

    Cons

Upper Management has no clue what is going on. Huge disconnect between hourly, supervisors, managers, and senior managers. It is pretty much a good ole boys club at the plant levels. Odd since the CEO is female.

    Advice to Management

Stop preaching ideals and start paying attention to the details.

I have been working at Ingredion full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Strong management, strategy and sustained success. I started six years ago when our stock price was around $30 per share. Today we are trending around $137 per share and this is due to the talent we have around the world. Good collaboration and focus on continuous improvement. Development of skills is a priority and building business acumen.

    Cons

Some employees are comfortable and resist change. Continue to focus on technology and innovation

    Advice to Management

Remember to take time to celebrate. In addition to shareholder value we should celebrate all the wonderful sustainability and local charity events we lead.

    Pros

Great financial profile. Strong strategy with opportunity for future growth. Strong company history based on a legacy of wise financial decision making.

    Cons

Leadership could be more flexible and engaging. You will work extremely hard at this company. The leadership demands high performance and extremely high effort.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to allow people to enjoy the benefits of working for a strong company. Learn to balance work and life.

I have been working at Ingredion full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Friendly people, though not everyone.
    Job security.
Relatively easy work -- if that's what you're seeking.

    Cons

    Poor management.
There is a minority of people who are incredibly petty.
Aiming to innovate, but lacking innovation.
Budget cuts and the really underwhelming benefits that come because of them.

    Advice to Management

You need to value individuals, their creativity, and their opinions. Too much insulation and saturation in the upper ranks -- some people really don't belong there, and it makes it difficult for the people who are truly qualified to actually reach these positions.

I have been working at Ingredion full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Above average pay and benefits. Solid business and leader in their industry. Can move around in the company but the workload will take its toll on you

    Cons

Workload is very stressful. 1 person usually doing the job of 5 in other companies. Good place to work if you have no family and are a workaholic. If your willing to sacrifice family time, then you will be happy.

    Advice to Management

Try to decentralize operations as there are not enough corporate resources to handle all operations across the globe. Consider hiring more employees to handle the extreme amount of work and daily tasks.
