I have been working at Innovative Artists Talent & Literary Agency full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Bagel Wednesday, Summer Fridays, 2 weeks off paid at end of year. Great people who really mentor and teach employees about the industry and how to succeed. When you build a relationship with your agent, they really help you succeed in the business. Great stepping stone to learn about all aspects of the entertainment industry.

    Cons

Parking is challenging as is all of Santa Monica.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time mentoring the assistants

I worked at Innovative Artists Talent & Literary Agency full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Bagels on Wednesdays, can't think of anything else that would be considered a "pro".

    Cons

    - the worst, least effective and most inept employees are coddled and protected (no idea why- it's baffling). It's almost as if the ones with the worst attitudes and fewest professional & social skills are the most appreciated. - completely lacking management or guidance from management staff - never received feedback of any kind whether positive or negative. - Hard to thrive or know what to focus on if no one is... willing to provide any help

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and understand why you're losing clients - when employees are horrible on the phone and give attitude to important clients, these employees should be held accountable. Instead they're praised and treated as stac

I have been working at Innovative Artists Talent & Literary Agency full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good clients, great management, nice location, generous perks (full-pay summer hours, extended holidays, decent benefits). For someone looking to get their one-year-agency-desk experience, IA is great.

    Cons

Low pay, lack of career path within the agency.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate the cost of the turnover across the "one-and-done" Assistants who cannot survive on the so-called industry-competitive hourly wage versus the cost of paying the good ones well enough that they don't leave after one year. Create a true career path for Assistants to grow within the agency. Your clients sense the lack of continuity with their first points of contact, and that surely impacts the... agency-client relationship.
