    Pros

Nothing. Definitely the worst place to work.

    Cons

Everything. The best thing to do is leave. It’s a very toxic environment that lacks strong HR/Recruitment Leadership.

I worked at Inova full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The doctors and the nurses work hard and there is a lot of a Tonna me and trust that’s built between nurses and physicians

    Cons

If you’re not a robot and you want to integrate holistic care into your ICU nursing career it’s ridiculed and frowned upon by many of your coworkers and management. Both middle and the upper management continuously changes. The politics is Ridiculous. Spent many dedicated years providing excellent more than satisfactory above unit standard care As reflected in my evaluations. Yet the glass ceiling felt like it was smashing me down. Regardless of my passion and dedication and continuing education efforts in order to improve my nursing practice I felt there was no growth. And there were a lot of close minded employees who were very clicky and often alienated particular people for whatever reason there’s a lot of bullying that happens and management does nothing about it. Getting compliments from families and patients did nothing to improve my status on the unit even though I put many many dedicated passionate hard-working days and years there and interestingly enough everywhere else that I went in the hospital people would continuously asked me if I would just come to them and because I felt so passionately about what I did I wanted to stick it out and see it be the best thing you could because I’ve seen it there and then I It Lost majority of their upper more experienced staff nurses which change the complete environment that work there too Manny and experience nurses in a high acuity intensive care unit that were given roles that they weren’t ready to take on and it caused a lot of under the table safety issues that seem to get overlooked because of particular favoritism for whatever reason they definitely do not value their nurses. They did not renew their magnet status because of nursing satisfaction and it’s even worse on the floors when there’s a 6 to 1 Ratio Way too much for any person to safely manage yet instead of hiring new nurses and more staff they continue to expand and not pay nearly enough for the price of living in this area. In my research of pay between Northern Virginia and southern Virginia there is a minimal increase and the cost-of-living is almost triple what it is in the southern part portions of Virginia and it’s a state of the art hospital there’s money somewhere in I guess the Exxon station that they bought Adjacent to the hospital to continue to expand and then understaffed and underpaid

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge and appreciate anything a nurse does that is not required to enhance their nursing practice and enhance a patient’s care and perception of their overall hospital stay. Instead of dismissing things that they don’t quite understand. Providing holistic nursing care Should be valued and encouraged more often then from just a small portion of the Fairfax campus. in comparison to the hospital I work for now there’s far greater understanding that nurturing a person spiritual self shortens a hospital stay and overall helps a person return to a more balanced self. Inova could learn something from the little dinky community I work for now at least they’re able to maintain magnet status.

I worked at Inova full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Patient care and leadership at the hospital is supportive

    Cons

The most unethical healthcare organization I have worked for. HR leadership is incompetent and they can't keep any leader for over a year. The most toxic culture I have seen in any organization. Organizational politics, unethical practices, untrustworthy leaders who are not concerned with employees well-being. Favoritism is the norm and politics at its worst in this organization.

    Advice to Management

You need to relook at the leadership team in your corporate office. These leaders are unfit for their roles and don't have the breadth or knowledge to run HR. You need to listen to your employees' concerns and actually do something with the feedback. For many years Inova has asked for employee feedback but no one does anything with the feedback. Stop asking if you don't have any attention of changing things. HR is supposed to support employees, but they are never available to listen to the employees. HR is unresponsive if you file a complaint and then employees have fear of retaliation on the unit.

    I worked at Inova full-time

    Pros

I do not have anything positive to say.

    Cons

I am writing this review because I pray that no one else experiences what I had to endure while working with INOVA urgent care. I have had a lot of experience working in healthcare with wonderful supervisors and accessible management, but this was not the case while at INOVA. You will be poorly trained to do your job well and end up receiving harsh words from healthcare providers on a daily basis because of that. Very strict schedule, no flexibility - so do not plan on doing anything else except working. Work hours extend longer than the 12 hour workday - you will be at the center on average 14 hours/day every shift, sometimes even longer. Very low pay. Very very toxic work environment; my manager would ignore me on several occasions while in the facility and did not at all seem interested in communicating with me verbally upon me submitting my two weeks notice. Healthcare providers would gossip about each other and about employees' work habits. Healthcare providers also carried a lot of prejudice towards certain patients that visited the facility. HR is also not accessible and does not seem interested in helping to improve an employee's work experience with the company. If you are looking for a positive work environment to gain clinical skills from an approachable and supportive management team, run! It will be for the safety of your mental/emotional health to protect yourself from feeling defeated and broken down after each shift.

    Pros

Staff is friendly and try their best despite being overworked.

    Cons

Management is not connected with staff, is not understanding of employees, does not care about the health and well-being of employees, employees have no support from management and end up ill from being overworked and stressed out. Management is not empathetic.

    Advice to Management

See your people are people and treat them as such and you might see your desired outcome.

    Pros

You get experience dealing with all types of situations. Coworkers are willing to help each other out.

    Cons

Low pay. No room for big advancements. You have to wait a year to transfer to another unit. Managers try to hold you back by telling employers not to hire you if you are looking for a new job. THey let the patients do whatever they want. No backbone.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees right. Allow them to advance, even if it's out of your company. Appreciate them more.
