    Pros

Everybody is technical and driven. Bleeding edge technologies and projects are always occurring. Ability to do anything across the span of IT and grow every skill. A lot of internal growth areas and more cross training than I've seen anywhere else I've been.

    Cons

Can be some long hours and weekends.

    Advice to Management

Great vision and ability to adjust to the market.

    Pros

    Great team environment
    Awesome perks
    Good work-life balance
    Company culture
Resources offered on the intranet company portal

    Cons

    Terrible Management
    Benefits
    No upward mobility
    Lack of training
Too many hands in the pot for processes
Pay increases are rare and low

    Advice to Management

Do not take your employees for granted. Annual reviews are not useful. Quarterly feed back at least, needs to be implemented. Do not choose favorites. Require managers to take managerial training. Don't make someone a manager just because they have been there a long time. Make sure they are also a peopl person and able to manage people in an effective and positive manner.

I worked at Insight full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I had an excellent Manager, Rodney. Possibly the most honest man I've ever worked with. It's IT services of all kinds, so if you like that kind of thing it could be a pretty good job. The downside is I know I was one of the higher paid technicians and I still made 15k/year less than a person would need to have a one bedroom apartment ANYWHERE in northern IL. You can't afford it even with no car payment, no debt, and not even going out, ever, to do anything.

    Cons

Basically, they pay so little for highly skilled work that you'll have to keep living with your parents just to get by. Pretty demoralizing.

    Advice to Management

Pay everyone in skilled positions a livable wage. In IL this means AT LEAST 52k/year.

    Insight Response

    Nov 17, 2016 – Talent Acquisition Leader

    I worked at Insight full-time

    Pros

Great co-workers who are very helpful. Opportunity to learn new technologies hands on.

    Cons

Poor benefits, nearly non-existant 401k match - 2 percent with1 per cent service fee. Good managers don't last long if they give feedback to assignments - poor managers last forever if they don't dare to give feedback to superiors. If a Dept meets their quota, a horrible manager will be defended to the bitter end. Cronies thrive despite lack of talent. Highly talented people are overlooked if they don't play the game.

    Advice to Management

Be open to feedback and don't brush off employee concerns with sound bites. Be aware teammates are often pressured by supervisors to give high marks on employee satisfaction surveys although they actually feel otherwise. I gave low marks on the satisfaction survey and was subject to retaliation.
