I worked at Insituform Technologies full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Ability to work independently, good benefits, 401 k match, progressive paid time off, laid back environment at times, company provides valuable service.

    Cons

Erratic, rotating schedule of hours, rotating management, little room for advancement, slow pay raise scale (if raises aren't completely cancelled for all but high level management).

    Advice to Management

Value employees, listen to their complaints. Managers need to understand what their employees actually do and how their schedule may affect their performance at times.

Terrible Management from top of company makes terrible management in the plants. Plant manager is a joke.

    Advice to Management

Check out the managers to make sure they are qualified to run a plant.

I worked at Insituform Technologies (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Large company with many benifits

    Cons

Turnover in upper management every 3 to 5 years. When new management takes over they do not learn who are their best people and tend to make decisions based on the people at corporate instead of what people are actually doing for the company.

    Advice to Management

Learn who your good people are yourself instead of listening to local corporate people.

I worked at Insituform Technologies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Helpful staff in California for training

    Cons

buyouts, change of management - the office was in chaos. The company was great for the construction team and the staffers that have been with the company for 15+ years - not such a friendly atmosphere for new office employees.

I worked at Insituform Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people you work with day-to-day are fantastic. The industry is also very interesting most of the time.

    Cons

They like to overwork people. My job required me to be very flexible, however they were very inflexible. For example, if I had been out of town for 2 weeks and got back to the St Louis airport at 3:30 PM on a friday, I was still expected to come into the office until 5:00. This usually amounted to only 15-20 minutes, but was way out of my way. Who cares if I had just worked 12-16 hours per day for the last 12 consecutive days?
Eventually, the stock price started falling and they hired a guy with an MBA to fix it. He fired the whole R&D department. I guess they don't really care about the future of the company.

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing on the stock price and look forward to the future. You're not as big as you act like you are.

I worked at Insituform Technologies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company at times, it was fun and awesome to work with the local Fullerton, CA crew except the Project Manager. Top of the line benefits

    Cons

In the Fullerton, Ca office the Project Manager was there for over a year and still did not know anything about the business or the daily activities that goes on in the office. He relied on everyone to include the people at the corporate office do his work for him and yet they continue to pay him a 6 figure salary which was 3 times more than what everybody else was making. Was told that I must work a minimum of 10-12 hour days regardless if everything was done. I was told that since I was in the military that I should understand authority and that David is my boss and I WILL do every and anything he tells me to do to include illegal things which I still refused to do even if he they were going to fire me because I have morals. The Project Manager has had 3 people quit on him to include myself.

    Advice to Management

STOP PROTECTING INCOMPETENT PROJECT MANGERS AND AREA MANAGERS THAT PROTECT INCOMPETENT PEOPLE. START TAKING CARE OF THE POEPLE WHO REALLY WANT TO MAKE THE COMPANY A BETTER PLACE.
