I worked at Institute of Professional Practice full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was pretty exciting to get a call from The Institute of Professional Practice for employment as I struggled to get a psychology job with only a Bachelor's. You do not even need a Bachelor's degree to get this job even though it may say it is required, it is only preferred.
Great job for people who are looking for a psychology job without a Master's degree.
Benefits are really good and very affordable.
Job can feel rewarding when reminding oneself they are changing lives everyday.
    Paid vacations and snow days.

    Cons

This company is very disorganized and allows too much flexibility. This may sound really nice in the beginning, until you are thrown into a situation where you have no idea how to respond. Sometimes it feels like you are baby sitting rather than modifying behavior, because the programs written out for these children just don't seem right. But the quality of training also depends on what school you are in.
The pay is horrible for the amount of stress you go through in a day.
Be ready to change diapers, YES CHANGE DIAPERS at least three times a day, get bitten, spat on, and all disgusting things under the sun.
The job isn't just for anyone. You really have to be a certain kind of breed and have a niche to do this kind of work.
I just don't think the pay is anywhere near the amount stress one goes through.

    Advice to Management

Train your employees APPLIED BEHAVIORAL ANALYZES, not just PMT techniques.
Pay them more money for the amount of stress and work they have to go through.

    Cons

Lower pay than wanted, trainings were not identical across the board- they only train you on what you need to know per client

I have been working at Institute of Professional Practice full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The clients in my house are great. They hold a special place in my heart and always will.

    Cons

Management is always changing due to high turn over (as well as regular staff). Management fails to learn the clients and directs staff in ways that are counter productive.

    Advice to Management

Don't just jump in and start writing people up when you don't even know the house. We are caring for the clients better than you and deserve better treatment. Also, pump up your staff more instead of beating them down over the little things.
