    Pros

    Middle Management are very supportive

    Cons

Senior Management give no feedback as to direction, or if they do it is just lip service. A bit of an old boys club at the top.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the old boys club, staff morale is low.

I worked at Insurance Australia Group (More than 5 years)

    Pros

a great traditional community oriented company with vast opportunities in the Australasian market, very well respected brands. Excellent grad program and well worth investigating.

    Cons

There is a gap between the overall group strategy and the local implementation of the tactical actions at EGM level. Resulting in a real lack of leadership and people pulling in different directions.

    Advice to Management

close the knowledge gap between CEO and EGM. Focus on simple changes that will make achieving tasks at IAG easier. Get on the same page with regards top down strategy and how each department contributes.

    Pros

Clean and friendly enough depending on your manager

    Cons

Extremely sales heavy. Gives a feeling a falseness as they encourage you to act as the you care or do whatever it takes to make a sale

    Advice to Management

Try to encourage staff to really care about their customers

I worked at Insurance Australia Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is genuine desire to 'be better' rather than just accepting status-quo. Quite a large number of initiatives (for the business and for the staff) that could help, if completed. Large numbers of pleasant, friendly, professional staff.

    Cons

Generally un-inspiring individuals in leadership positions. Many of the initiatives (see 'pros') fall by the wayside or become lip-service. Insurance is never going to be a glamourous industry.

    Advice to Management

What you *say* you're going to do is good; now do it !

    Pros

Company offers flexible work environment, many opportunities to be seconded or progress, encourage professional development.

    Cons

A lot of changes going on as the result of restructure; lots of uncertainty, lack of clarity around role - can be a difficult environment to work in due to constantly changing priorities.

    Advice to Management

Try your best to give people clarity and try to limit restructures.

    Pros

A lot of great people who care passionately about their work and want to do the best for the customer.
