I worked at Insurance Australia Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Good Exposure to senior management
    - Large amount of autonomy and trust in their staff
    - Varied work
    - Good base salary

    Cons

    - Difficult to achieve top bonus banding (even with top performance)
    - Difficult to navigate your path to the top
    - Can become trapped under someone with tenure
    - Too many re-organisations due to an inability to make difficult decisions

    Advice to Management

Rather than taking half measures, make a concerted effort to make the difficult but correct choice. It may end in a year of mixed results, but over the long term, companies that are clear on their choices perform better

I have been working at Insurance Australia Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It's a large, market leading company with some well established brands and a lot of opportunites.

There are some interesting projects happening as the group is making changes to better leverage its scale in Asia Pacific.

    Cons

Three major company restructures plus two more for the individual team I work in. So a total of five restructures in five years! The constant change makes it difficult to just get on with the business of making money.

I have a feeling that pay progression is quite "lumpy" - meaning anyone who has been in the same role for a couple of years is likely to be underpaid compared to the market. Then a large increase when an employee is promoted followed by several more years of near zero increases.

    Advice to Management

Restructures are a distraction from doing our jobs.
