I worked at Integer Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people. Great energy. I was treated fairly and compensated generously. I felt appreciated. I feel lucky to have been a part of the Integer family for so long.

    Cons

Excessive amount of internal employee moves, resulting in the deviation from the original furniture layout which caused disruption and frivolous spending.

    Advice to Management

Adhere to holding employees accountable for disregarding company property and taking matters into their own hands without asking permission.

I worked at Integer Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Agency size means there's a great network of people and resources at your disposal
-Senior leadership is transparent and available
-Lots of opportunities to work on the types of projects that interest you
-Great place for young employees to grow

    Cons

-Since it's shopper marketing, not the most glamorous agency work
-Lots of work never gets produced, which is fairly typical of agencies
-Location is in Lakewood, so there's a 15-30 minute commute from Denver

    Advice to Management

Keep finding new ways to retain talent by fostering an inspiring work place.

I worked at Integer Group full-time

    Pros

I got to work on marketing and promotional campaigns for big brands. I gained a wide range of experience, working on everything from print ads, to in-store displays, to static digital banner ads and rich media. I learned a ton about 360 omni-channel marketing campaigns and consumer promotions. Brainstorming big ideas and tactics was always fun. I learned many lessons quickly (the hard way). Also, a lot of my coworkers were smart, friendly, and a pleasure to work with.

    Cons

The hours required and pressure felt from higher-ups was brutal. There was an absolute lack of mentorship on the majority of my teams, so many times the expectations were not clear. There will be no hand-holding here, so don't expect it. Perhaps your experience will be different, but this job consumed my life. Additionally, the pay was on the very low end of the spectrum.

    Advice to Management

Prioritize mentorship in your directors. Team leaders who have their team's back and are able to communicate expectations clearly is more important than free lunch, in my opinion.

I have been working at Integer Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company culture; high visibility clients; good benefits

    Cons

Agency has been losing business over the last few years. Too many lay-offs.

    Advice to Management

Ask the people below upper management how things are going to get a better read on the pulse at the agency.

I worked at Integer Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great sick/vacation/personal time and decent benefits.

    Cons

Not much raises, many people not able to get promoted.

    Advice to Management

Try to promote from within more instead of hiring outside people for positions.

    Pros

Unusually strong focus on developing, training and celebrating their employees. Some say it's not as much as the old days but for an agency that's a part of a major Corp, I find it extraordinary.

Account assignments range from full service work to shopper marketing. Strong stable of clients and categories.

    Cons

Can be long hours and tough clients, but that's agency work...

    Advice to Management

Keep fighting to preserve TIG's focus on people. It's a true differentiation.

    Pros

    Great culture and work environment.

    Cons

Economy and parent company have dictated do more with less mentality.

    Advice to Management

Maintain balance between culture and parent company demands.

I worked at Integer Group full-time

    Pros

Lots of autonomy. I was able to create my own job description. The culture is very inclusive and acquiring life long friends is expected.

    Cons

The actual work wasn't very fulfilling or creative. Their specific niche of marketing (shopper marketing) didn't interest me very much. I prefer ATL and integrated work.

    Advice to Management

Continue to foster a positive and inclusive culture. People get jobs at Integer for the culture as much, if not more, than the actual work. If there was a way to acquire more daring clients, that would be awesome.

I worked at Integer Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    • Time off between Christmas and the New Year
    • Vacation, personal, sick and flex time is great*
    • Paycheck twice a month
    • The few nice people that are still there
    • Receptionists are the nicest women you will ever meet.
    • Studio + Digital Imaging Dept. is amazing and highly skilled in design and illustration but are under utilized.
    • If you are an "A" type personality you will thrive there, if you are not.. you are trampled over.

    Cons

    • *It's extremely rare to actually take time off, it's looked down upon unless you're upper mgmt. OR if you do get some time off, you still end up "working from home" anyway
    • Top heavy with upper management (Creative/Account Directors through VP's)
    • Egos, brown nosing, and cliques are rampant
    • Sorority/Frat house atmosphere
    • Thrown under the bus in a second unless you make key relationships and feverishly maintain them
    • Account Dept. IS the gate keeper of Clients
    • Creatives developing a relationship with Clients is a no-no
    • Account regularly doles out creative direction with no input from the Creative Dept.
    • Don't be surprised when someone in Account opens your creative files (yes they have access to Adobe Creative Suite) and edits them to their liking or places their own comps into presentations.
    • Account is basically your first Client. that you must please
    • This is not a place where Account supports and sells the work simply because the Creative team deems these are the best options to solve the problem.
    • Everyone wants their thumb print on the work so be prepared to accommodate for every last edit from every person involved
    • A creative suggestion actually means, "Make my edit because I'm keeping tabs on you."
    • Diversity is not their strong suit, they maintain a few token "faces" to make the Client tour look good.
    • Stop pretending that this is an episode of Mad Men. These in-store displays and counter cards aren't saving any lives.

    Advice to Management

Take a chance and let this be a "Creative led agency".
Weed out the ego maniacs and brown nosers.
Allow Clients to actually SEE NEW and DISRUPTIVE ideas and let them judge the work for themselves.
Remove Creative Suite apps from all Account Service laptops.
Empower people to do what's right, not what's easy, fast, cheap, safe or solely for their own best interest.
Being told to be creative yet forced to come up with something "new" using "this look and feel toolbox" and "these client supplied assets" is a joke. That's simply painting the same pile of excrement a different color for every new project that comes down the pipe. Is that safe? Yes. Is it good for long term? No.
Hire more diversity, and no I'm not talking about some hot-shot from some exotic place that only stays for a year or less. I'm talking about local, humble, hungry, brilliant, diverse people in your own backyard.
"Innovation and disruption does not come from homogeneous groups of people."

The downside is it is really long hours, and really lousy pay until you can work your way up.
