I worked at Integrated Deicing Services full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay and 1 member of management were the only pros.

    Cons

During the interview process everyone was told that hours were based on a bidding process, they put up the shift and the employees would place the bid. However, that is not how it went, shifts were only granted based on popularity and if you were a female, you would receive many shifts even on days off no snow events! You have Supervisors who clearly have never worked in an atmosphere like JFK. They talked down on employees like children and wondered why there were constant mistakes daily.

    Advice to Management

Hire suitable Supervisors, have a better understanding of a novice deicer and an experienced deicer!

I have been working at Integrated Deicing Services full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great coworkers. Fun and important job at the bottom-most level. Flexible scheduling. Large company, plenty of room to move around (and up!) if you'd like to. Well-respected in its field.

    Cons

Seasonal (except managers). No benefits. Little concern for employee needs (for instance, their real jobs). Local management talks about people behind their backs as soon as they leave the room. Leads do a lot and only get $1 more (with no overtime). Not organized. No local HR. Training is too quick and different depending on when you started and who trained you.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to employees. Their knowledge and experience is good to have.

I have been working at Integrated Deicing Services part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

good people, interesting work, schedule is flexible

    Cons

You are held to a schedule but they can cancel your shifts at any time. Supervisors will also cut your hours in order to keep from paying you overtime. Morale is very low due to poor work practices by managers.

    Advice to Management

Advice to corporate: replace the managers at MSP because they are the reason morale is low and everyone is quitting or will not return next season.

    Pros

This is a unique job that will make you feel alive, great hours, and great camaraderie.

    Cons

    This calling is only part-time.

    Advice to Management

Maybe the open-mindedness towards a solid foundation of not necessarily more positions filled, but more Created positions and solidarity to them, especially towards management so that their workload is predetermined and nothing is left in the air for certain individuals to put on their plate and cause stress and irritability. Every young company has bugs and quirks to workout, but I would consider this one particular to be the one and only for this outStanding company.

    Neutral Outlook

    Pros

Local level deicers and manaagment are great to work for. Lots of dedication and drive. Great ethics and work ethic.

    Cons

Further up the food chain the worse the ethics, direction and leadership get. Don't trust them for a second. Compulsive lieing and misdirection to get what they want.

    Advice to Management

You know what the problem is and if you don't then you are the problem. Ethics needs addressed and leadership is sub par. Fix it or watch everything crumble around you.

    Pros

People step up to help each other. Many different personalities work here. Job can be a lot of fun.

    Cons

Getting the hours you need. Long days 10-14-18 hour days. Boredom when there is no weather.

    Advice to Management

Create a better training program that covers actual tasks or institute actual trainer personnel. Overall they do great.
