I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. Superior technologists as peers, smartest people in the world. Engaging work and great company values. Career opportunities exist for those who are self-starters, want to exceed expectations every year, and who live in the right geographies. Very rewarding and engaging work, great management team below GM in my team.

    Cons

IT site strategy ("co-located teams are more effective") has caused numerous people to relocate, and even then some were not retained. Many IT jobs are not collaborative (project teams are spread across entire regions). Forcing organizations to locate in just a few cities has caused congestion and impacted many lives. Executive management is difficult to read, and their decisions don't always seem to make sense or align with the company values that the rest of us live by.

    Advice to Management

This company technically enables mobility. For positions which do not require specific on-site presence, ensure that employee contribution is measured on their deliverables, not whether they are sitting in a chair in some location.

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They are one of the oldest Silicon Valley companies. But even so they spend a lot of their money on R&D. Good benefits not top dog but still good. Fighter attitude.... others have already faded but they are still there

    Cons

They do not really believe in telecommuting even if you do not have to be onsite. Older employees are at risks of getting canned. They tend to run acquisitions into the ground, so my advise if you are acquired try to get a job inside the parent company

    Advice to Management

Let's make acquisitions profitable. Increase creative culture. As a high tech company we should have the intelligence to plan our layoffs better.

    Pros

Insurance was good. Performance sharing for retirement was good.

    Cons

too much politics. Too much not invented here. Too little risk. Too many members of management period. Too many pets.

    Advice to Management

Fire the top half. Its the economy stupid!

I worked at Intel Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good salaries, good work ethic for the most part. There is room to learn a lot and grow professionally, if you take advantage of it.

    Cons

They have had quite a few lay offs in recent years. Unfortunately, even the smallest mark on your work record means you are at the top of the lay off list.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should allow direct supervisors to be the ones identifying who should stay and who should not. Upper management does not know specific individual's abilities & work ethic. Get to GEMBA!
