I worked at Intel Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Intel is good company with regard to benefits. One of the best was it allowed employees to take Sabbaticals.

    Cons

Very competitive and stressful environment. Difficult to advance due to management bias that seem to have large effect on promotions and raises.

    Advice to Management

Be fair and honest with employees who execute at high levels of productivity

Hold BU leaders accountable for the money they spend on acquisitions. Track the actual cash flows used for DCF analysis of each and every deal. Hold BU leaders accountable for the money they spend on acquisitions. I repeat, hold BU leaders accountable for the money they spend on acquisitions.

    Pros

Interesting work with lots of variety

    Cons

Lots of stress, competition, job insecurity.

    Advice to Management

Intel used to have a longer vision, now short term profits seem to be paramount, management solutions out of the can (send jobs overseas) rather than outside the box.

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are so many opportunities to learn new things and work on cutting edge technology.

    Cons

All spending has been cut. It seems like there's a new round of layoffs every year now. It also seems like the managers at the top can't relate to the experience of the individual contributors at the bottom.

    Advice to Management

Many managers have no passion or skills for actually managing people. This results in a high turnover rate and low morale.
