Hi - it sounds like you had a bad experience when you reported a management issue. As you know, Intel wants our workplace to be a great place to work for everyone, and while you're no longer working ... More

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Depending on the team and management, great place to work. Lots of small perks that try to get the employees excited but seem to fall a bit short. Lots of opportunities to grow in any direction you can imagine.

    Cons

Management seems lost at all levels. it seems at times that hiring the best managers with people skills are not even considered. There are some great managers but they seem to get lost in the sea of mediocrity. Recent layoffs have left quite a bad morale with the employees and its clear that senior management cares a ton more about the bottom line than you as an employee.

    Advice to Management

Re-excite the employees to do something awesome. Properly staff and reward them. It will pay off with executed schedules and quality products!

I worked at Intel Corporation as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was paid market rate for the term of my contract.

    Cons

Probably the most unpleasant experience of my long career as a tech consultant. Contractors are called "contingency workers." They comprise nearly half of Intel's workforce, and are treated like second-class citizens. One contractor I was working with couldn't take it anymore and just walked off the job. Didn't say goodbye to anyone, including her hiring manager. I was later informed that this was not an isolated incident.

This is also a high-stress, toxic environment for staff employees as well. The threat of layoffs always looms large, and as a result, much time and energy is expended ensuring you've covered your rear-end. The lack of job security keeps people on edge, and often manifests itself as a hostile environment.

    Advice to Management

Intel reminds me of IBM in the late-eighties, just before it imploded and laid off approximately 100,000 employees. Like IBM, Intel is a lumbering dinosaur unable to keep up with accelerating markets. When the inevitable downsizing occurs, pray you find a Lou Gerstner equivalent with a view toward re-invention and long-term sustainability.

    Pros

    A great Work Culture
    A great Push Culture
    A Great learning experience
    A great Work Life Balance
    A great Intern fun activities

    Cons

Nothing much as such. But it's not granted that you will be converted as full time. Getting an interview call applying online is very hard. A lot of competition for one post. So nothing as BAD as such.

    Pros

Work-life balance is amazing, they care about you as an employee and a person. The benefits: healthcare, dental, retirement, 401k, onsite amenities, and much more.

    Cons

Working across geographies can prove to be difficult for meeting timing and scheduling. You might end up with 2/3am meetings; however, this is the nature of the technical field these days, so it is not completely unique to Intel.

    Advice to Management

N/A, keep doing what you are doing in helping Intel run smoothly!
