I worked at Intel Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very interesting work. Opportunity to learn and contribute to leading edge technologies. Top pay and benefits. Compensation is merit based. Stock options too.

    Cons

Super competitive work culture. Long hard days. Intense pressure to produce results. Little appreciation unless you're one of the fast track, super-star performers. Steady performers that meet their deliverables without fanfare will not succeed.

I worked at Intel Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

World class organization with open culture in work and personnel practices. Very ethical work place with very clear escalation path for harassment and discrimination.

    Cons

Like any technology organization, reward is a little skewed to few top performers. With there is little difference between team members in terms of performance, this can be frustrating some times to both managers and team members.

    Advice to Management

performance review system needs to be updated Laying off successful performers based on indirect grading impacts employee morale.

I worked at Intel Corporation as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Very intelligent people all over the place who are willing to help
    - Excellent managers directly working with engineering teams

    - Work/life balance is well rounded

    Cons

    - Diversity hiring given priority over skill level and retaining good employees
    - Software developers are undervalued
    - Lack of overall corporate vision and cooperation between teams
    - Building amenities and office spaces are terribly cramped and outdated
    - Typical large company bureaucracy, though some teams are more self sufficient
    - Employee ranking system is severely flawed
    - Lots of good talent has left recently
    - Very political environment

    Advice to Management

The company needs a major overhaul to bring it into the 21st century with other tech giants like Google and Facebook. This includes a strategic vision, more failfast teams, more software.

I worked at Intel Corporation full-time

    Pros

Used to be a good company

    Cons

Sometimes as a software professional in a hardware company, you are valued less than you should be. There isn't always a clear a path for career advancement for software professionals, at least not as much as for hardware pros.

    Advice to Management

Lay yourself off. Find leadership that champions new ideas and products that lead to growth, rather than spending so much time making sure you have the right politically correct mixture of diversity on a sinking deck.
