Intel offers a good salary and benefits however it isn't very fair in annual compensation increases. the technology is 1st class and it is rewarding to work with equipment that is at the cutting edge. It would be nice to increase our efficiency with that technology however CE stands in the way.
When I started with Intel in 1997 it was a GREAT company to work for. Today however, Managers are micromanaged which results in a very stressed and unproductive environment. There is a very vibrant 'good old boy' network within the management structure which is not healthy. This use to be a very proactive company and is now a very reactive company. Evidence is a poorly structured and performance 'down sizing' in May of 2009. Hundreds of employees lost their jobs the same quarter that they announce billions of dollar profits and then we are looking to hire new employees within the next 6-12 months. Watching your back and walking on eggs is common.

Its one of the most high tech companies out there and its a great feeling to work on cutting edge technologies
I feel that the people over here are still stuck in an indian mentality and there is less fair growth but then i would think thats true for all companies in india

Being very good at your work technically and good productivity does mean success at Intel. The culture puts more emphasis on social skills than any other skill set. Its possible to be technically inept and nonproductive but very successful if good at self promotion. The opposite is also true where extremely bright individuals fail or just leave the organization only because they lack the desire to boast on ones own behalf.1

A good aspect of working for Intel is the cutting edge technology that you have at hand. While most of it is confidential, I will say this. The software they have is a good 5 years ahead of what everyone else has.
Some of the relationships between co-workers can sometime get frustrating and annoying at times. I all depends on the crew leader that you are assigned to.

Intel's competitive advantage is its ability to deploy a manufacturing technology quickly and in the largest scale possible. Intel's manufacturing technology is cutting edge, but only in commercial deployment. The cutting edge technology is developed not in big corporations but in academia and start ups. If you are fresh out of college, start your career at Intel to learn about the industry, tools, and commercial technology (usually at the beginning of its decline). Leave no later than 2 years, start your own company or join a start up (you will make more for the hours you put in).
A typical manager is competent talking to a power point, with very little understanding of or appreciation for the content. He is a good salesman and a sycophant. He gives little thought to the growth of his direct reports (who usually haven't left the team or the company because they are on Employment Visas or the employment market is bad). If you are looking to gain technical experience/knowledge you will work atleast twice as long as the industry on a project, spend twice as much time in irrelevant meetings. If you are looking to grow your career vertically, there is little hiring and most managers have decades to o before retirement, translation: very few management positions in the foreseeable future. If you are looking to broaden your skills (grow horizontally), the hiring managers will not consider your application without "prior relevant experience", translation: most groups operate as silos. If you are looking to grow your income, follow the stock price INTC (a good portion of the compensation) the last decade (Jan 3rd 2000 to Jan 4th 2010) the stock has fallen more than 50%. The average annual raise in salary in the US has ranged from 0% to 6% during the same period.8

If you like to be on the cutting edge of technology and work with the brightest people around then you will have a great experience. It is important that you are comfortable in an environment that requires you to be independent and chart your own career path. If you are then there are ample opportunities to lead and work on great projects and teams. Work-life balance is pretty good compared to many other tech companies but does require excellence and what comes with it which is hard work and sometimes long hours. Total compensation is very good overall.
While I love the concept of 'constructive confrontation' it can be taken too far. The culture requires nay sayers and there are times when it is not appropriate. However, when you miss major changes in the market the way Intel has it is pretty important to be always paranoid. The shifts in the market also bring on constant divisional changes and changes in teams which can be frustrating as you don't always get the time to get traction on a new initiative when things shift to the new latest trend and all resources go with it. In terms of promotions the ranking and rating system is flawed which can seriously hold up your opportunities. Also, being a manager does not get you any credit at performance review time.

Benefits, Flexibility, Technology, Fast-Paced work environment. It's pretty cool being on the cutting edge of technology and the people are awesome.
Organization Initiatives are making it harder to get work done. The company recent ~10% layoffs were done very poorly causing significant damage to employee-manager relationships and general employee trust/security.
