    I worked at Intent Media full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. A transparent executive team with very few surprises.
    2. There was never any shortage of things to take on if you were excelling in your current role
    3. Very cross-functional for anyone looking to understand how different business units work
    4. Only a few egos to deal with – much less than I've experienced at similar sized companies
    5. I genuinely trusted the vast majority of people I worked with
    6. ...and of course, the beautiful office in SoHo and dogs!

    Cons

    1. Too many meetings (although this is something they've worked on)
    2. Intent Media serves the Travel vertical only, which had become more saturated during my tenure
    3. It became more challenging to deliver a differentiated product to partners

    Advice to Management

    1. Get out of the office, speak to clients, to influencers, at conferences — be the voice of the company again
    2. Find new ways to bring the company together — strengthen that unique cultural IM spark!
    3. Be the first ones in the office and the last ones out...

    I have been working at Intent Media full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    I've been working for Intent Media for a year now. Having worked for many tech companies for over ten years, I can say with certainty that this is the best place I've ever worked. From its culture to its ambition to its roll-your-sleeves up mentality top-to-bottom throughout the organization, this place has the drive and the desire to succeed in the ad tech space like few other companies out there.

    Empowerment - A lot is done to ensure that all ideas are listened to and that through smart decision-making and good instinct that we have the power to change decisions regardless of the level of the organization at which we may sit. Few companies can boast this.

    Transparency - The leadership is open, communicative, and honest about the state of the industry, the challenges we face, and the opportunities we have. Through this, they make the entire organization feel empowered and inspired to help drive change.

    Dynamic - A squad structure allows maximum flexibility when it comes to designing and deploying new features. Teams are small and operate independently. This allows for maximum agility and quick innovation.

    Smart - The smartest group of people I've ever worked with. From engineering to sales to data to partner management to leadership, this is an organization you will always learn from and one that will always make you feel like you're striving for the next level.

    Driven by Results - Data-driven culture permeates throughout the organization. Everyone in the organization takes the time to look at numbers on a daily basis while constantly trying to figure out ways to drive innovation and revenue through new products, features, designs, and business ideas.

    Culture - Smart, witty, fun people help me to look forward to coming into the office ready to work everyday.

    Cons

    The growing pains of any company can sometimes manifest themselves in the lack of process and occasional lack of maturity. But I've seen way worse.

    Advice to Management

    Nothing. Keep listening, keep evolving, and keep empowering your teams. You're doing a great job.

    "A late-stage startup becoming a big company"

    I have been working at Intent Media full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    * Lots of smart, fun, capable people
    * Great dogs
    * Transparent culture, founded on real respect
    * A real business
    * Awesome office with tons of food and fun

    Cons

    * Tech senior leadership has gone downhill
    * Way too many product managers
    * Very slow moving
    * Very late stage, so few opportunities for real innovation or advancement
    * Increasingly hierarchical
    * Tons of process
    * Developers do tons of operations work
    * Parts of the tech stack are just nasty and old

    Advice to Management

    IM is becoming a big company that fondly remembers its startup days. There are no new products. Decisions take forever. There are way too many business people telling programmers what to do. The worst example of this is the ridiculous number of product managers. Great engineers want and deserve more autonomy and more freedom to innovate. You've got to find ways for engineers to work on building new and exciting things instead of just maintaining this ad network.

    Pros

    - great culture of transparency and collaboration fostered by the Management
    - real emphasis on employees' well-being
    - talented individuals

    Cons

    - market is getting more competitive, but that's also new challenges, right!

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you are doing. Company is growing but I think a good job is done of keeping a startup/human feel to it.

    Pros

    Office dogs, roof deck so you can work outdoors, extremely talented group of co-workers.

    Cons

    It can be pretty intense at times so you have to make sure you are up for working hard, but in a fun humane culture

    Advice to Management

    Its great that management invests so much in keep employees happy. The new office is a great demonstration of that... by far the best place I've ever worked.
