I worked at InterContinental Hotels Group (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great company that provides plenty of resources to help you succeed.

    Cons

with corporate hotels, if you are not with the "in crowd" then your invisible until you make a mistake. Once you make a mistake then your always on the "watch list". And when you ask for help from your manager you are looked at as stupid because you should already know the answer and then are told that's why we hired you. So you do your best, pray, and ask for forgiveness later.

    Advice to Management

A GM should be able to function at all levels of the hotel not just one. Stop treating employees poorly. And teach upper level management to become leaders not just a manager who won't teach you anything. If you get to meet Jimmy Taylor you will understand why so many stay.

    Pros

They are good about making sure you are payed on time but that's all.

    Cons

Lack on wages, gratitude, and most of all taking care of your employees. Not really good benefits. And match to your 401k and health benefits are to high and pay is to low.

    Advice to Management

Ya'll could recognize the employee's that are being there on time and pay the ones who have been been in the company along time and put forth the effort to show your appreciation to the ones who work in the company. .

I love how busy the property is. There are a lot of employees with the airline that stay for long periods so you get to know them well.

Even though most of the classes are a joy to serve, some of the training classes can be very demanding.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at InterContinental Hotels Group full-time

    Pros

great hotel benefits, if you like working with people, you meet a lot of people.

    Cons

no health insurance or retirement benefits; not a good job for single parents. Promised full time hours at interview but eventually changes to part time, mostly weekends or late shifts.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to talk to people with respect and dignity. There is a professional way to constructively criticize without making people feel unappreciated. There is too much sacrifice to keep positive relations working with a company that don't value its employees on the same level of service to their guests.
