I worked at InterContinental Hotels Group (Less than a year)

    Pros

Medical Benefits. Human Resources Dept. is organized and friendly.

    Cons

Management team very clickish, loud and judgmental. They expect you to learn everything about all 6 hotels in 2 weeks. There isn't any training except videos with a lot of tests and no hands on training whatsoever. Atmosphere is very unprofessional and loud. Management very immature.

    Advice to Management

Train your employees better. You could have an amazing employee and because of your lack of training and professionalism, could loose them to another company who appreciates and is willing to train them!

    Pros

Can work up to 100+ hours a week and receive overtime pay.

    Cons

Overworked employees. No work breaks. Understaffed which causes each employee to do the job of 2-3 people. No standards of sanitation or the labor law are followed.

    Advice to Management

Employees should be able to speak English. I was the only server that spoke English.

I worked at InterContinental Hotels Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Depends on the department (I worked in a lot of them). The best thing is the discounts at hotels one gets. There always seems to be an opportunity to move to different departments to learn new things. There is tuition reimbursement which helped me a lot.

    Cons

Schedule changes every quarter and that can be a balancing act. Extremely strict on breaks and amount of time each phone calls last. Sometimes have to deal with angry people on the phone.

    Advice to Management

Overall, not bad. Had some amazing one's but also some not good one's. One poor exchange was when I wasn't doing a good job making upsells to customers and they tried to make me feel bad if I lost the job because I had recently had a new kid. There are better ways to try to motivate someone.

As any big company in the engineering side some flows need to be updated, but that is constantly improving
