I have been working at InterContinental Hotels Group (Less than a year)

    Pros

Dealing with , some, guest was satisfying. had a $1 lunch at the cafeteria.

    Cons

Everything else. Coworkers were unfriendly in a supposed friendly industry. Managers were rude, aggressive, demanding, poorly trained. Absolutely no leadership and very low teamwork for a hotel. Hotel has the air of superiority by managers to the mainly minority workers. Mangers expected you to do their job as well and were not open to recommendation/suggestions. Gossip was very bad, and good work never gets noticed except small mistakes which you'll never hear the end of it. Overworked job and underpaid.

    Advice to Management

Train your managers better for leadership and how to manage.

I worked at InterContinental Hotels Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They put their people first. I've seen heroic actions from managers in order to care for employees. We're all family there.

    Cons

Call center hours can be tough. Know what you're getting into. And, be open to change/process improvement, as it will happen.

    Advice to Management

    Never stop putting people first.

    Pros

Fair across the board with employees

    Cons

Felt like I was never heard. As much as I tried to make things work & try to get things to work a certain way, management never seemed to be inclined to trying suggestions.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your Team. Make sure those who work hard are not punished for those who aren't doing what they are supposed to do.

    Pros

Great brand image, strong support channels, good first "job" for both managers and owners.

    Cons

Is more concerned with collecting paid franchise statements from crooked owners than actually enforcing their ethics and standards. A regional franchise support specialist in Dallas was handed statements from multiple franchise team members trying to reach out and expose what was taking place and her response was "unfortunately this kind of thing is common." IHG knowingly and willingly supports criminal owners hiding behind firewall management companies like Hospitality Solutions Inc and Orchid Global Hotels.

    Advice to Management

Keep defaming and blacklisting managers who don't support criminal activity and I'm sure you'll be fine.
