    Positive Outlook

I have been working at InterContinental Hotels Group part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Having an amazing supervisor and fellow housekeepers

    Cons

Not having the best of the best when it comes to sheets, towels, comforters, and pillow cases. and not having extra furniture, lamps, lamp shades, refrigerators, microwaves, telephones. I want the guests that stay in my rooms to have better quality towels, washcloths, hand towels, and floor mats that stay soft and fuzzy.

    Advice to Management

We need to consistently have bedding and towels on order. Please realize our towels only have a lifespan of at most maybe two or three months and when we get new ones within 4 days of use and washing there hard and crunchy.

I worked at InterContinental Hotels Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I worked in Guest Services at a Holiday Inn by a small international airport on the west coast of Florida. We had minor to major celebrities in-house almost weekly, including Vice President Joe Biden. The Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates utilized our facilities during Spring Training. The management team was energetic and created a fast-paced and efficient environment.

    Cons

The pay was $9.00/HR with no opportunity for overtime. I worked eight days and seven days in a row with no overtime. I was asked to work 10 days in a row with no opportunity for overtime by my direct superior. I brought this to the attention of the GM (Operations Manager) and he found this unacceptable, thankfully. He said he would "Ask him to be more considerate to us." The WiFi always had issues that were never resolved, and thus a constant incoming flow of complaints came to the front desk. The owner had not paid for the upgrades in hardware necessary to provide WI-fi for the building.

    Advice to Management

Be more conscientious and courteous to employees. Pay honestly. If someone has worked overtime don't split up their workweeks so that you can bypass paying them the money they deserve.

I worked at InterContinental Hotels Group (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy going job for college student. Working at the front desk allows for a bit of time to study especially during slow times.

    Cons

There is a lot of standing. At times responsibilities will increase beyond expectations and there will not be a lot of recognition.

    Pros

It really depends on the supervisor you get. They did assist with tuition reimbursement and they try to work with schedules if they can

    Cons

Some of the management was really under-developed. The schedules are done by the bidding process and If you didn't have any seniority then you were kind of screwed.

    Advice to Management

Develop supervisors more after promoting them.
