I worked at InterSystems full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Quality and like-able employees are hired to the company. Lots of employee appreciation events over the summer and winter with company outings.

    Cons

The company is privately held and all shares of the company are in possession of ownership (i.e. no board/committee to chime in their two cents or offer their perspective on where the business is at and going). This can be a real advantage because ownership can simply do what they feel is best or right for employees and the company as a whole, but this can and does pose an issue for the future of the company... business and employee morale.

    Advice to Management

Hire based solely off of qualifications and be more vigilant in not allowing any other factors to permeate the hiring process. Additionally some thought needs be put into why so much value is put into the Pre Employment Testing that screens out quality candidates. Many jobs within Intersystems don’t need to ever answer various style of logic questions that’s on the mandatory PET test and Intersystems misses out on... super high quality candidates that way. Not an expert but candidates who hold Ph.D. degrees from MIT in Computer Science and other highly skilled fields sound more than qualified to work for Intersystems but get disqualified because they didn’t score 17+ out of 20 on the PET test.

    Pros

This is a stable, privately owned company that values its workers and their development. The culture is great and the people super sharp. It's really a great place to work.

    Cons

The company is growing and changing recently and some people can be slow to comfortable with change. But these are all normal growing pains.

I worked at InterSystems full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Intelligent and smart colleagues, interesting projects, private offices, good compensation

    Cons

    - Extremely poor leadership at top level - Old-boys-club politics - Extremely dubious practice of depending on PI tests for recruitment - Extremely resistant to upgrade systems/technologies to deliver quality products by todays standards - Dress codes [oh fun!] - Lack of gender and racial diversity - Fun way of doing projects without requirements until something shapes up - Way too many people in middle... management layer, acting important and doing nothing because they wrote a piece of software 10 yrs ago, which only they have the know-how now and is irreplaceable because they say so!

You aren't too big to fail, you are one step from being obsolete.

I have been working at InterSystems for less than a year

    Pros

The people are good and interested in helping customers. The job is interesting and I can honestly say I like my coworkers and respect my managers.

    Cons

The dress code is a little crazy for a tech job. Isolation means that not everyone knows the direction the company is headed.

    Advice to Management

Better and more frequent communication to all employees would make for a superior work environment.

I have been working at InterSystems full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The technology is really awesome! The people we work with is very good. Very smart, dedicated and respectful. It is a great place to work. The benefits are also great. The company cares a lot for your health. Even on countries where laws don't mandate the companies paying insurance to their employees InterSystems will pay for your insurance. Clients are the first priority.

    Cons

It is a company of engineers. They have difficulty understanding business landscape and investing in research and development needed for the future. It is also very difficult to get hired. Weird tests that are outdated that leaves good people outside.

    Advice to Management

    Be bolder.

    I worked at InterSystems full-time

    Pros

Beautiful women who train me. Funny, smart and made me feel so comfortable that. I loved coming to work everyday.she is awesome and makes everyone feel great.

    Cons

Gossip with main reception area. When i was waiting for my interview. I could not believe all the bad things discussed in front of me and another person waiting to be interviewed . The current reception and employees were talking bad of Owners of the company and personal things i didnt want to hear. Made us think twice if we want to work here.

    Advice to Management

The short time there it was obvious clicky and gossiping. The company is great Definitely need managers who are qualified and provide structure of policy and procedures that apply to all employees including family and friends . HR department needs real qualified experienced people who know their job s and employees feel comfortable going to them knowing employees rights and seriousness of confidentiality is not... discussed .
