I have been working at Intercultural Family Services (Less than a year)

    Pros

Intercultural Family Services is a great place to work. Staff are very educated and professional. This organization is full of minorities who possess a great work ethic and are dedicated to enriching each program offered to disenfranchised populations. The CEO actually cares about the staff and wants them to grow. There are tons of opportunity and growth as long as your positive and willing to learn.

    Cons

The culture is more of a close family, not corporate. You must learn to adapt to the culture.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

    Pros

Coworkers were nice when i worked there.

    Cons

I have never been so micro managed and so poorly trained. Supervisor was inappropriate and informed me i was hired to provide diversity. Director was confrontational and unprofessional. Pto accrual is pathetic

    Advice to Management

Ceo behaves as if we should bow ar her altar. Monthly mandatory potluck is a waste ofbtime and a joke. Treat your employees better.

    Pros

You work with people. Pretty decent salary

    Cons

    PTO is horrible
Benefits are not that good; very expensive
    Very micro-managed

    Advice to Management

They have offered me a great salary and the program appeared to be awesome. I wish I would have known how horrible the agency policy was before leaving my previous job.
You are on 6 months probation meaning you PTO is accrued however you aren't able to take it before 6 months. It is frowned upon if you do. There are 8 days of PTO and 7 sick days. You are micro-managed severely. There is no trust and you have to explain everything as if you were a child.

    Pros

*Some of the co-works are nice.
*It is located at a convenient place.
    *flexible working time

    Cons

*The CEO has favoritism and treats the staff differently. She pays more attention to how to increase billing and make money instead of how to treat the clients or the employees better. She is running a non-profit organization as a profit company.
    *Very disorganized.
*The management and administration is very unprofessional. Some of the managers are irresponsible and lazy.
*They do have some unethical moments.

    Advice to Management

*The management level staff especially the CEO should really think about why this place will have a very high turnover rate.
*Please treat every employee equally and nicely instead of using them as slaves.
*Provide more care and support to the employees. Care more about how they feel and what they think, instead of pushing to do their work (while some of the employees that get her favoritism do nothing with their pays) and adding tons of stress to them.
*Do use the workers as your personal housekeeper, driver, or other positions that work only for you.
    *Please take clinical work seriously.

    Pros

PTO policy was relatively generous. Good work-life balance.

    Cons

Low pay, questionable ethics, inconsistent management. Office politics exist in most places , but are especially unforgiving here. Raises and promotions are unheard.

    Pros

You will never have a better opportunity to learn about cultural competency, what it is, how you can practice it. Pay and benefits are on par with non-profits in the Philadelphia area. This is not an easy place to work, but if you have a positive attitude and a desire to contribute toward unique and worthy goals, you will have a good experience here.

    Cons

The organization is the most hierarchical I've ever worked at. I don't see this as a negative, because I understood it from the get-go. Some people have trouble with it, especially if they are used to working in de-centralized (flat) organizations. And as with most nonprofits, it is a very demanding environment.

I worked at Intercultural Family Services full-time

    Pros

The pace is slower than some other community mental health agencies, which leaves time to really work with the
    clients.

    Cons

There is a level of distrust that permeates the ranks and unethical practices abound. No consideration is given for
client care; the emphasis is on making money exclusively. Their claim to employ the Sanctuary Model could not be
    further from the truth.

    Advice to Management

Consider the question of why there's high employee turnover. Take a hard look at your guiding principles and purpose
    - changes need to be made if Intercultural wants to SERVE the community.

    Pros

Coworkers were great. That's about it.

    Cons

Management sucks. The CEO has favoritism, has ridicuous meetings exceeding work hours for nothing: every month. Low pay. Benefits also sucks. Everything sucks about this company. It's everyone for themselves.

    Advice to Management

    Care more about your workers.

I have been working at Intercultural Family Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The direct staff was pretty nice, great place to put on resume as a filler but you definitely don't learn.

    Cons

Managers don't listen and are incompetent, there's no structure, Senior managers are stuck on what the agency was and not what the agency IS. They are unethical at times and they underpay staff tremendously. No growth or learning opportunities available.
