I worked at Intermedia full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some great people, decent benefits, fruit and bagels some mornings, incentives for sales employees, competitive salary.

    Cons

Small organization, executives make poor decisions, very secretive, fire critical employees while leaving some with no/ little value

    Advice to Management

Restructure-- starting from the top. Several of the executives are not only unprofessional and incompetent but can also be disrespectful and inappropriate.

    I worked at Intermedia

    Pros

-work/life balance -great people in other departments

    Cons

    - no training/coaching - unqualified people in management positions and they have little to no people skills - people do not share info in order to guarantee job security - questions are not welcomed - they are answered in condescending tone - accounting team likes to play the blame game and there is no sense of teamwork

    Advice to Management

    - put people with management skills and that are properly qualified in management positions - foster training/coaching mentality - act on employee feedback

I worked at Intermedia full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    - Very nice facilities - Some great people who are trying hard - Work life balance is pretty good

    Cons

    - Very factionalized and political - Product and technology is behind and getting further behind - Senior management alternates between micromanagement and disinterest

    Advice to Management

Not sure what to say, I doubt it's fixable

I worked at Intermedia full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent opportunities for advancement, solid pay and benefits, really great people that care about the work they do.

    Cons

VERY corporate environment. If you've come from a startup the pace is going to feel very slow. Everything needs to be projected and quantified for nearly any type of budget request.

    Advice to Management

Don't miss opportunities as a result of being too process oriented. Sometimes better is better than perfect.

I worked at Intermedia full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I worked there as QA Automation Engineer .NET for 4+ years - Great people (though they don't always look happy doing their work...) - Tight team coupling, team buildings, great team work and assistance, very responsible people - Location near one of the central SPB metro stations - Table tennis, play room, wardrobe, dedicated areas within business center - Fresh fruits of very high quality ;) mango, avokado, apricots, peaches, sweet cherries, sweeties, grapefroots, pink tomatos etc...

    Cons

In my partucular department: - Tight team coupling leaded to sometimes "serfdom": you are not allowed to change projects, change team, use any kind of ideas accepted in other teams - No knowledge sharing between teams, all teams reinvente the wheel by themselves. "Committes" just created were not very useful when I was there - It is not very easy to be pro-active: Technical initiative is not very appreciated (like new tools PoC), the main purpose - to release project in-time, all time resources are targeted to release; no additional time resources to do proof of concepts, to apply some new technical ideas etc... Management will be glad in case you overtimes to perform release, but not refactoring/infrastructure improvements/new technologies PoC - Open Space is very bad foir development Teams - Very hard to move to new technologies (SOAP where REST is more suitable architecture; only MSTEst unit test framework, xUnit, NUNit is prohibited because Dev Principals stated this rule ...) - It is very hard to find time for self-development: you need to struggle with management, always struggle and be brave. If you do not struggle, you start to get more and more infrastructure expertise instead of technologies knowledge, and start working as assistant for Release Engineers/DBAs/Application Support/Tech Support/ Tech Writers/PMs etc.... and no professinal development in your professional area

    Advice to Management

Please pay more attention to people's mood and motivation (and problems they revealed and reported!) who make a lot of great efforts to help company products be better!
