I have been working at Internap Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

New leadership is driving change and building an environment of cost awareness and accountability.

    Cons

Change is always hard- new ideas and processes can be difficult to sell and implement. However the new team is focused and believe everyone will be on board soon.

    Advice to Management

Continue to communicate the driving factors behinds the change- it will ease the transition and continue to help drive the results needed.

    Pros

My site had a really good close team. We worked together for many years. Didn't have much time under new senior management team, bit they seem intent to turn the company around.

    Cons

Data centers are under staffed, and cut back even more this year
Very little autonomy at individual site level this includes site managers.

I worked at Internap Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The open door policy was actually employed and not just a myth. Management would make an effort to listen to concerns.

    Cons

Work / Life balance was difficult as the crew was held to minimal staffing.

    Advice to Management

No advice to management as the door was open, quarterly all hand meetings and grievances were addressed.

    Pros

New leadership is making significant changes to improve morale and internal communication while focusing on cost awareness and improving the company's financial outlook. Many improvements have already been made to compensation benefits and retention of employees.

    Cons

Change can sometimes be hard and slow, but the new management team is extremely focused on improving all aspects of the company.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be focused and disciplined. Keep making changes to improve the overall health of the company and its' employees.

    Pros

Our new leadership is a solid team with a strong focus on growing this company. They have brought industry credibility back to INAP, united previously disjointed departments and created a positive work environment.

    Cons

Currently, a lot of work is being put on personnel to get INAP where is needs to be to obtain, support and keep customers. I believe this effort will pay off.

    Advice to Management

Keep the communication with employees coming.

    Pros

Flexible and great place to work. Products are easy to sale if you target the correct organizations.

    Cons

AWS exists. Very tough to take business away from them.

Sales can only sell one product set not all offerings.

    Advice to Management

Let the sales folks sell all offerings.

Management is consistent and focused on achievement of strategic goals. Communication and consideration of employees has improved greatly. This is bring very positive results in operations across the company.

    Cons

Change is difficult and has resulted in the loss of some good employees.

    Advice to Management

External strategy is working. Now, keep the momentum going in positive directions internally as happy employees work hard to keep improving operations!

  10. "Cutting costs with little regard for context or talent"

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Internap Corporation full-time

    Pros

If you like an "easy" corporate environment with very little accountability, you will thrive here.

    Cons

CEO seems to be on one mission: cut costs until the stockholders are happy, no matter how gutted the company becomes. About a year ago, they laid off many smart and hard-working employees, who quickly found employment elsewhere. Meanwhile, INAP is continuing to sell products for which they have few (or no) support engineers, and customers are moving to other providers. It's embarrassing and worrying.

Besides the layoffs, a name change, and a few new talking heads, INAP is still the bureaucratic company it was a few years ago. Unless you get a generous offer and want to bide your time for a bit as a recent graduate, you may be better off elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Lure back some of the smart people that were laid off, find new young talent, and show the reliable existing employees (who are on the fence) that you value them.
