I worked at International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay. Vision insurance was weird. Medical and Dental insurance were good. Retirement isn't through them. That is from NEAP.

    Cons

Was dismissed from Davey Tree with one verbal warning, and the union never filed an appeal. The union rep would never return my calls or provide me any assistance.

    Advice to Management

Talk to Jimmy Hoffa junior and learn how to run a union. I was treated better by the Teamsters when I was a part-time employee at UPS in college.

    Pros

Great training opportunity. Benefits are good if you work steady enough.

    Cons

Unstable work, and job referral system that is a dinosaur.

    Advice to Management

Stop organizing workers while long term members on off work. Don't over organize every local in the country like was done in the 90's.
