I have been working at International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Their union hall is nice. Teachers are ok like Ebby.

    Cons

No support when you have a problem with a company....they will get back to you days later.... They force you to us one bank....I'm sure there's politics involved. Pay is not much more then regular scale...if your and apprentice which im not but fact check this....you decide to quite the program you own them and its in the thousands....they can also send you anywhere and you can't say NO or if you do they take you out of the program and they win bc its 2500 for each year missed up to 5 years... 12500 on the line.....As a journeyman electrician the companies they use with tye rxception of Titan are law breakers....such as ratio of trainees to journeyman 6:1...... Which I can be fined by L&I....yeah you can complain but like I said it takes them days to get back to you.....They also a serious pressure on conforming to their political point of view...almost to the point of brainwashing....in at 34.34 per hour but when you take away the umion dues 2.5 % and tge monthly 45.00 it brings it down to about 32.50 gr8...which I was getting as a trainee in Seattle...oh they will say you get great baniffits but most don't kick in until 5years and if you quite or don't get 1/2 years work in you lose them all and IBEW pockets them...

    Advice to Management

If your wanting to be an apprentice take your time look at it objectively...
If your a journeyman read between the lines...they promise you the sky when you first get there to get you to sign...but its only a salea tactic...it really does feel like they are selling labour... And making millions on it....
