    Pros

Pay was good, pockets of good people

    Cons

Extremely political in corporate areas. Overall management does not care about employees, despite spouted rhetoric. Hiring decisions are based on whomever they want to hire, not best suited employee.

I worked at International Paper (Less than a year)

    Pros

Job security was very high and the work group was very focused on the tasks at hand.

    Cons

60+ hours required with the short staffed personnel. Also, the planning cycle was virtually non-existent as scheduling plans never exceeded 24 hours according to company policy.

    Advice to Management

Approach the planning cycle with some serious diversity. Each plant was different and creating a cookie cutter scheduling policy limited the forecasting and scheduling modules that could have been implemented.

I worked at International Paper (More than a year)

    Pros

Compettive pay is about all I can say about IP but only paid once a month which sucks!

    Cons

Terrible place for African Americans to work and try to advance. Very good ole boy environment and political to limiting your future. "Infinite possibilities" is blatant lie!

    Advice to Management

Being fair to ALL employees doesn't cost a thing and actually will gain you the respect among the employees to trust you. Also promotions should be earned due to performance not if you like a person or not or "kiss up to you"!

I have been working at International Paper full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I work at the Carrollton,Texas Container plant. There are no pros about working for this location of IP. The management is complacent and the entire production process needs an overhaul, especially with the delaminated and warped paper that our customers complain about.

    Cons

This IP plant overlooks experienced employees and puts friends, family members and unqualified persons at top positions who lack experience and leadership skills. A current employee who only has three years experience was made leadman and more qualified and more experienced employees of over 15 years experience were ignored. These decisions bring lack motivation, resentment and production and our customers suffer for these bad decisions.

    Advice to Management

Look into why training new employees is not done,Look into why experienced employees are still doing the same job for over 5 years, look into why we can not make the quality of paper that our competitors are producing. Look into how many top positions are family related. Ask employees why they are unhappy at this facility. If the soldiers are not doing what they are supposed to do, it is the Generals fault. In this case management. This facility has the potential of making 5 million this year but the management is the problem.

I worked at International Paper full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay, with a good chance of overtime. Kind coworkers, and mostly helpful staff. Considerate of military schedules.

    Cons

Three short breaks, machines that are not properly taken care of. Lack of consideration to those who are getting fired. No warning or procedure put in place to warn those who's performance is lacking.

    Advice to Management

If a worker is slipping in their numbers, and ability to preform their job, have a three strike rule in place before firing someone without warning. Communication is key, work on it with the employees.
