I have been working at International Paper full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Competitive pay and benefits. That's it.

    Cons

Horrible training and upper management will not work with you or stand behind you. You're on your own with HR issues and especially on off shifts.

    Advice to Management

Stop worry about money and start caring about your employees. Dont preach about safety and then demand people work unsafe just to achieve production.

I have been working at International Paper full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Company does provide training, and management does care about professional development.

    Cons

Work/Life balance is not out there, supervisors are not compensated for the overtime and weekend hours.

    Advice to Management

All of the supervisors that worked with are looking for a better opportunity, I am not saying the company is bad, it might be just the industry. However, supervisors are low on motivation due to not being compensated for all the 12 hours a day and weekends.

I worked at International Paper full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Decent Salary and Decent benefits

    Cons

Zero work/life balance Work 6 to 7 days a week that you’re not told about upfront Cutthroat environment Zero employee value-doesn’t matter if you’re a production employee or management

    Advice to Management

Buying lunch on the weekend doesn’t constitute valuation of employees. There is life outside of the workplace. If you want better quality, invest in maintaining your machines with a great staff. Hourly employees are NOT your maintenance department. This is why the company has so many Unionized facilities. If you want value creation from employees, you have to start with yourself.

I worked at International Paper full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Very boring. Don't try to change anything or you will be fired, demoted or just made miserable. It is "the IP way or the highway" right or wrong. it is mostly wrong but their do some things amazingly well. Imagine all the fallen victims that had to be fired to get them to change.

    Cons

Well the cons and pros are about the same.

    Advice to Management

Seek to work with your people. Don't just say you do but do it. Have integrity and respect for your company, coworkers, and yourself

I have been working at International Paper full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Have always been up front and honest. If you put forth an effort they will reward you. Have always promoted from within.

    Cons

Micro managers. They have too many people, and too many meetings. Different departments giving too much advice to departments they are not in charge of.

    Advice to Management

Let people do their jobs without micro management. Also, meetings are a waste of time.
