I have been working at International Paper full-time for less than a year

    Pros

With a company this size, there is plenty of room for growth. They strive to hire within and value their employees.

    Cons

The company has a long road to adapt to new age workforce. Would like to see an increase interest in an employees work life balance.

I have been working at International Paper

    Pros

Compensation is good, purposeful job tasks (I feel like I’m contributing), and most importantly Ip has excellent safety programs and policies.

    Cons

Work life balance, hours worked, there are days where I feel I’ve been “used” by the company due to how they treat their employees- take take take!

    Advice to Management

IP does a great job of walking the talk when it comes to safety (I love this); however, IP does a horrible/horrendous job of walking the talk when it comes to work life balance and respecting their employees.

I worked at International Paper full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Pays well, good people, lots of opportunities.

    Cons

Work life balance is basically non-existent. Long hours without consideration for employee well being. On call 24/7 365 for the smallest of issues that should be resolved at operator or foreman level.

    Advice to Management

Raise the expectations on hourly workers, increase core competencies and engagement from front line workers. Management cannot do all of the troubleshooting and process monitoring.

I have been working at International Paper full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent salary. Yearly raises. Great coworkers for the most part. Start with 3 weeks vacation. Policies dictated by IP corporate aren't so bad.

    Cons

Absolutely awful management. Cannot earn more vacation time for 10 years. Out of date technology. Antiquated management policies and practices. Extremely high stress. Work life balance is absolutely laughable. Not friendly to employees with kids or responsibilities outside of work. Anything dictated by the Beaverton Plates Department are absolutely awful.

    Advice to Management

Change with the times and actually provide some support to your employees!
