Great dental and medical benefits even for interns!

They have a nice intern program with weekly meetings where we got cookies and snacks to learn more about the company, all while still being on the clock

    Cons

I think salaried workers are under a lot of pressure, but as far as the internship was, there were no cons.

Work life balance is a on the bad side. Generally not enough people needed to do the job and getting more people is difficult.

I have been working at Intersil full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The environment at the company is fairly solid, and most people are hardworking. The office itself is nice too, and conducive to good work.

    Cons

The marketing department (online especially) has really suffered from changes over the past year or so. There is high turnover here, so new people come aboard with low knowledge level. Many of the managers in this department have poor managerial skills too, making it an unpleasant department to work in. There is also a general lack of respect for the managers among people such as myself.

    Advice to Management

Nothing specific, other than offer food.

I worked at Intersil full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall, the company is a fairly positive place to work. The pay is solid and the benefits are pretty good. Many people have been there for a long time, which is a good sign.

    Cons

The marketing department is where things have gone down hill the past several months. Some changes were made to processes and personnel that has caused some concern. First, the overall environment is not a good one. The leaders are set in their ways and fail to consider new ideas despite them having limited marketing experience backgrounds. Relationships among peers in the marketing department is OK but the problem is more with the lack of subject matter expertise and overall lack of management skills or experience among managers of the department. So, I recommend looking elsewhere if you're a marketing person based on how things have changed recently.

    Advice to Management

No specific advice, other than to look into recent changes and determine you really have the right people now in place (answer: probably not).

    Pros

Very talented and smart people to work with. Competitive compensation and good benefits. Excellent facility and the people in Austin make it a great place to work.

    Cons

Narrow product focus which limits the type of designs you work on. The new product development process seems too cumbersome. Would be better if they could decide (yes or no) on new product ideas faster.
