I worked at Intersil as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Great exposure to the semi-conductor industry and the entire company's culture with opportunity to interact with customers world-wide.
    - The internship program is full of activities for you to get to know the VPs and the different areas of the company

    Cons

    - Your team is spread around the country or the world and you must spend a lot of time scheduling distant calls or learn how to work individually

    Pros

Great work-life balance, corporate incentive plan (bonuses are paid out quarterly), there's a gym and cafeteria, Coyote Creek is in our backyard, nice community of people

    Cons

the cafeteria is lacking, but they serve all day breakfast-- that's all the cons I can think of!

I worked at Intersil full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are many smart people in the company, and most of them have nice personality, which makes the work environment more enjoyable. The campus is really nice also with Gym and Yoga class. It is close to many restaurants so it's very easy to grab a bite. Company also has great benefit including educational assistance, which I think it's really nice.

    Cons

    1. Low salary
    2. Unsure of future outlook

    Pros

Diversity of products and associated test challenges. Intersil has a broad product portfolio, so most engineers with power, mixed signal or analog experience can find something to work on that suits their interest. Recreation-wise a very nice company with game room (Pool, ping pong, foosball), gym, direct access to hiking, and nice company parties at least once per quarter.

    Cons

Frequent and sometimes large layoffs. Approach to capital equipment is often penny-wise, pound foolish. A problem not unique to Intersil is an upper management that doesn't know what is really going on at the worker level. Each transmission of info up the corporate ladder gets filtered and polished to the point of worthlessness.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to develop better communication channels with people who do the work. They don't get that from Q&A at company or product line all-hands meetings, or at infrequent meetings between 1 executive and 10 workers. Try more one on one's and skip the intermediate levels.

    Pros

Great place to work, awesome culture, smart people, plus it is centrally located if you like to eat out. The location is very convenient for commute

    Cons

Need some improvement in adapting to the increased competitive market.

    Advice to Management

Hang in there and keep trying

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Pretty laid back environment. Some talent still left at the company, but may leave soon based on current trend for the moral in the company.

    Cons

Career growth is dependent on the product line you are working on. Not on par with other local companies.

    Advice to Management

Need new board of directors to lead the company. Even the new CEO Necip after David Bell is incompetent.
