I worked at Interstate Hotels & Resorts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great people in corporate office
    - Supportive HR department
    - Cookie Wednesdays / Bagel Fridays

    Cons

    - HUGE compensation gap between lower-level and higher-level positions.
    - Lack of diversity

    Cons within my department:
    - Low morale/unethical practices - I spoke with several attorneys and business executives that confirmed that some of these policies and practices were even borderline illegal.
    - Lack of leadership support
    - Lack of communication
    - Little promotional opportunities
    - False advertisement in job description - this was a HUGE concern of mine.
    - Very low compensation - similar job positions at companies of similar size in DC metro area pay significantly more.
    - No demonstration of appreciation, or motivation provided.
    - Very little respect offered to lower-level team members

    Advice to Management

While the company overall is decent, each department at the corporate office is a little world of of it's own. At the corporate office, most departments are solid, but you have a few (like mine) that are rid with awful leadership, lack of ethics, and absolutely no support and respect. Shortly after I started, it became evident to me that the lower-level employees inside my department were extremely unhappy (including my very own direct supervisor), but expressed that they felt compelled to stay for good references and to avoid burning any bridges . However, I saw that it didn't matter how long you stayed in the long run or how strong your job performance was, because they would ultimately resent every person that left. Again, this was my experience with one particular department - I had several friends in other departments who were 100% happy and had phenomenal team members and leaders. You have to decide whether it's a risk worth taking.

I have been working at Interstate Hotels & Resorts full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

After 6 months one is eligible for transfer. Overtime is not an issue

    Cons

There is a serious lack of dedication at the location I worked for, not to say this is for every location. But it was very hard to get things done due to the bureaucracy

I worked at Interstate Hotels & Resorts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They were quite flexible with my schedule. Gave me the independence to finish tasks without micromanaging. I loved my direct boss.

    Cons

Would have liked if they offered tuition experience. When the hotel was bought by another company I feel that Interstate could have handled the changeover better.
