    Pros

Mid-level management knows knows their stuff. People are nice and work really hard.

    Cons

Ruthless upper management. Too much work and not enough staff. Cannot keep Principle Investigators. Clients keep leaving because promises are made which cannot be kept. Contract and hourly employees are encouraged to work over 40 hr/week but cannot report extra hours on time sheets (this in illegal in CA). They let you go if you do not comply. The tendency is to want to bury problems. Right now, there are so many old problems that quality work cannot be delivered until problems are addressed.. Upper management imposes unrealistic deadlines and hard working new employees take the hit. Profits are placed way above quality.

    Advice to Management

Quality needs to be your number one priority. You will never be able to climb out of the hole until realistic timelines are addressed. Promises need to be kept for you employees and clients.

I have been working at Intertek full-time

    Pros

I can't think think of any.

    Cons

No communication, people are staying certified in things that they don't even do, employees are severely under paid, they say you will doing one thing but sneak their way into making you do other things. I found out what people are really making and some techs are making more than 3x the amount I am with less than a years experience. Just an overall shady operation. No family time, completely unorganized

    Advice to Management

Understand that not all of your employees are oblivious to the situations going on around them.

    Pros

Friendly coworkers and management. Four day on/ four day off schedule. Managers are very understanding when problems occur. Great team environment. Office parties, free snacks, Gatorade and occasionally free lunch.

    Cons

Small office so scheduling is not very flexible, but management tries to accommodate if given notice. Dirty working conditions. Rotating days/midnight alternating monthly. Lack of disciplinary action.

I have been working at Intertek full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. Great co-workers. Decent work environment. Facilities are adequate for the work being performed. Middle management is alright and willing to help when needed.

    Cons

Does it need to be said again? Poor upper management. Repetitive work. Minimal pay increases even for exceptional performance. Lack of upward mobility. Company believes they own you 24/7. Current lay-offs are demoralizing. Everything is sacrificed for the sake of the shareholders.

    Advice to Management

Why bother, they don't care anyway. Otherwise they would reward exceptional performance, provide pay increases that at least keep up with cost of living. They would provide more opportunities for advancement instead of empty promises, and they would invest in their own human capital which would pay dividends as opposed to trying to squeeze every single dime out of the business at the expense of morale and productivity.

    Pros

The only good thing about this place is the people.

    Cons

Everything! Everything about this place is terrible and there are systemic issues with corporate culture that can been applied to every Intertek facility across the world. They treat every employee as if they were replaceable - even PIs/management. The pay is terrible and many people have left to find better pay else where. We all know CROs are fast pace and can be very stressful, but this place is on a whole new level. Each person is expected to do the work of 4 or 5 people and gets paid less than the average for their position. Given that we live in san diego and the cost of living is top 10 in the country the pay barely a living wage and many people have second jobs. The morale among the employees is low due to the low pay and continually increasing workload. There is no mentorship or knowledgeable staff on site since many of them have been laid off or left within the last month. Roughly 20 people of various skill levels and paygrades have been laid off within the last month - not a stable company.

Advice to anyone wanting to work here: Don't! There are better places to get your foot in the door.

    Advice to Management

No advice - keep up the (10X) great work and place will be out of business by the end of the year.
