Great culture, leadership, and growth opportunities

Dec 13, 2022 - Shared Services in Houston, TX

    Pros

Genuinely impressed with the quality of the leadership team -- high caliber professionals who care about their employees and the company. There is a culture of innovation and continuous push to outperform, which can be intense. With that said, there is enough flexibility and freedom to truly own your work and make a difference. Preference is given for promotions from within, so there are many opportunities for growth. Employees are also encouraged to develop professionally and maintain a good work life balance.

    Cons

Intertek is a big and complex company. The structure can be challenging to understand and navigate for new employees. At some locations or even within individual departments, the culture can be different from the rest of the organization. Staying positive and engaged, reaching out for support, and finding opportunities within the internal network would be the best way to improve the working environment.

    Pros

Great benefits. Start with 4weeks PTO

    Cons

Used to be employee oriented but in recent years only money driven. Employees are treated like machines and more and more work is loaded on to remaining employees once one leaves. Management has lost touch with the people doing the day to day duties.

    Pros

Great as an entry job for a fresh college student. No experience is necessary. Easy to learn basic how to input data, save data and manipulate data. Free coffee,

    Cons

Need to up-date old projects files. Work as intern. Accept from your experienced coworkers lots of mistakes. Here including missing data for the assigned project, receiving wrong working details, lots of challenging comments that will not apply to you but realizing that there is a toxic environment. One must perform the $36 K in projects / Month. This is the rule only for the engineers to be considered productive. There will be no projects to do and there will be no data to finish even old projects. The Managers just are looking to the stock market values.

Not a good option for most

Oct 17, 2022 - Engineer in Cortland, NY

    Pros

    - 22 days off to start - Reasonable flexibility - Very kind, intelligent people - Hands on aspects - Great for gaining some experience right out of school

    Cons

    - Cartoonishly profit-driven company that would cut corners off a circle if they could - No clear path towards advancement and measly raises on a good year - Absence of training, even baseline lab safety training - Equipment and facility in disrepair because corporate won't spend a dime to keep anything up to date - Terrible COVID response, never embraced work from home even though it would be simple enough to pull off
