I have been working at Intrado full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Work worth doing, saving lives, the benefits and paid time off

    Cons

Hard to move up in the company, or move into a different position unless you're on the same team that you're applying towards and the company seems a bit unstable not knowing if you still have a job day by day

    Advice to Management

Advice to the higher up it shouldn't be all about the money

I worked at Intrado full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There were fun team building activities every Friday, and quarterly outings. Unfortunately all of those dwindled, and the company has only decreased benefits, and pay is still nowhere near competitive.

    Cons

Pay, benefits, promotion freezes. There's no room to grow, and employee morale is dwindling.

    Advice to Management

For the love of god, pay us more.

I worked at Intrado full-time for more than a year

    Pros

911 data is interesting and important. You "might" be able to find a decent niche or team in the company.

    Cons

Juvenile management styles. Exclusionary environment. Promotions promised but often not given unless you were a favorite, and even then, they were tiny increments. Not enough to cover cost of living in the area. To succeed on the team I was on, you needed to be a people pleaser which was frustrating and inauthentic. HR was often unhelpful and had the same exclusionary attitude as many other leaders.

    Advice to Management

Emotional intelligence is crucial in leadership positions. Advice to employees: you deserve to work at a better place!

    I worked at Intrado

    Pros

Good company with a lot of employee perks, including ecxellent on site cafeteria. Fun team building outings. Lots of meaningful outside projects. Overall a fun upbeat atmosphere.

    Cons

BORING work. You do the same exact thing all day everyday. My department was under staffed and over worked. The pay is not great either and your work is never caught up or done.

    Advice to Management

Diversify some of the work load. People are not robots set to thoughtlessly be on auto pilot for 8 hours a day. Hire enough people in busy departments to keep work loads manageable.

I have been working at Intrado full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some great co-workers. Nice cafe and work that feels meaningful.

    Cons

Management could use more in-depth training. It is easy for employees to feel they aren't supported by management.

    Advice to Management

Don't just talk the "we care about our people" talk. If you care, find some managers who know what they are doing. If you can't find that, at least find managers who are secure and truly want their employees and the company to succeed.

I worked at Intrado full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good starting pay, regular mon-fri work week. Plenty of room for lateral movement and growth.

    Cons

Very stressful, this job is better suited to anyone who enjoys repetitive and unchanging work. It's just basic data entry.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that the trainer wants to train the new employee, the early training for the job was horrible.

I worked at Intrado full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Great time off benefits -Decent work-hours and mandatory breaks/lunch -Some great people to work with, depending on team assigned -Quite a few training opportunities, professional and personal

    Cons

-Horrible management decisions; promotions are purely political or personal; lots of preference given to those who have the ability and will to brown-nose superiors. -Analysts, all ranges from Associate through Senior are severely underpaid, and these are the positions making the most data-sensitive, customer-affecting updates to the systems. -Not much room for daily responsibility flexibility; do it your... supervisor's way or get a PIN (official write-up) -Had a horrible supervisor relationship, and when reported to HR, never got to speak to an HR rep until after they spoke to my supervisor and had already made a decision. This is an incredibly skewed process that shows utmost preference for the upper echelons, even if those titles were underserved.

    Advice to Management

-Stop hiring from outside, or those with similar work histories as you; this company is bleeding excellent talent that chose to stick around for a few extra years with promises of promotions, only to be passed up when upper management gives the job to someone with less Intrado-specific experience. Let's be honest, all hires must be trained to Intrado standards and policies, regardless of previous work experience.... PROMOTE FROM WITHIN!

I have been working at Intrado full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Get to work with wide variety of agencies nationwide

    Cons

-Little promotion from within -Many managers/directors with little to no technical knowledge. This turns them into glorified conference call coordinators/note takers -Huge emphasis on winning contracts - but once the customer has paid, very little attention goes to customer satisfaction -not given adequate tools for the job

    Advice to Management

Promote from within, that way your managers and directors are able to understand issues and can handle calls with customers on their own, without having to recruit hordes of technical staff to back them up.

I have been working at Intrado full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Decent benefits, your work saves lives, paid team buildings offsite

    Cons

When terrible decisions are made that only pad people's pockets, they don't even try to hide it. They're happy to lay off people to save money but they let valuable people go and promote their friends to take their place. Qualified people are passed up for promotions because too many people are busy hooking their friends up. Some managers use the "team building" excuse to take a few friends out to work and put it on... the company credit card and they will abuse their work from home abilities.

    Advice to Management

Management is the reason there is a gap between engagement and disengagement. They separate themselves and make their minions feel the burn when they could be making themselves a part of the team and making their minions feel appreciated.
