    Pros

Most coworkers are nice and enjoyable
There are a lot of snacks on hand

    Cons

Some bad apples in the company can make it unbearable

A lot of projects are stuck in the same loop and management is unwilling to make any changes to them because changing the protocol is 'too much work'. I guess this is an issue with many industry biotech jobs but I still don't agree with it.

    Pros

    Some good people and Projects.
Lot of things to learn always.

    Cons

    Very bad management.
    Poor Structure.
they only care about the upper management people and they are not against abuse and mistreatment of the team. No whistle blower policy.
HR is not at all helpful.
Avoid this place completely if you don't want to end up in a hostile work environment.

    Advice to Management

See the difference between hostile and healthy environment. Get rid of the toxic people for better work place environment.

I have been working at Intrexon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

People are generally great to work with, most are willing to help out, and the projects are interesting and engaging. Sometimes, hours are long, but it is exciting to look forward to all of your hard work after all that.

    Cons

    Management is the absolute worst!
HR does not know how to care for their employees to keep them, sheltering only managers, who "seem to know their science".
It doesn't really matter if you are hard working or not, they will only believe the managers' words. You want transparency? You want honesty? You want trustworthiness? Look elsewhere. Save yourself the heartache.

    Advice to Management

Get it together. Protect the people who are working for you. You risk everything on dollar signs, but in reality, the whole thing may collapse in one fell swoop without u even knowing it. We are the ones that create, analyze, and prepare slides for the data that the managers will present to you. Create a healthy environment for the people working there. At least separate the people who are having conflicts, and treat all employees equally.

I have been working at Intrexon full-time

    Pros

Interesting mission that is differentiated from other companies in the biotechnology industry

    Cons

    - No career development or program, there is no opportunity to advance your skills
    - HR does not exist and there is a complete lack of accountability & transparency
    - Toxic culture - turnover is very high and morale is low. Most people realize that their skills and talents would be better used at a biotech company that is able to leverage its human capital
    - Laughable company structure/organizational framework - Intrexon may be the most disorganized company ever seen. A lot of time is wasted trying to navigate ridiculous corporate structure and outdated IT. A lot of finger-pointing and placing the blame on someone else instead of trying to address the broken system

    Advice to Management

    - Create a real HR department
    - Scrap underperforming managers
    - Reorganize the fractured team structure
    - Invest in Intrexon's culture

Honestly ... Intrexon might be beyond repair

I have been working at Intrexon full-time

    Pros

There are a lot of really great people that work at Intrexon. There are also a number of very interesting problems to be solved. The environment has improved significantly at a number of the sites in recent times. The CEO also cares a lot and works hard to make this company successful. It is often easy to doubt Intrexon but in the long run it is very likely it will be a highly successful company from a monetary standpoint.

    Cons

Long list. The company has had serious issues in the past which are best summarized by other reviews on this site. I have read through almost all of the reviews and even the worst ones are unfortunately pretty accurate. There are also a quantifiable number of relatively unqualified people who get by playing politics given the lack of strong organizational structure at the higher levels of the company.

    Advice to Management

Keep moving in the right direction. Bi-directional performance reviews should be mandated company wide and layoffs NEED to be communicated properly. This is not a startup or small company that cannot afford to pay severance etc... At this stage of the companies growth it is necessary to behave and treat people professionally or else no-one good will ever work here.
