    Company sucked

May 29, 2019 - Remote Tax Advisor in Tucson, AZ

    Pros

The company really had no good pros. Their policies conflict with your obligations as tax professional. I would not recommend working for them. They also did not pay me for all the time I spent trying to complete some training that they made me do 4 times.

    Cons

    Low pay and age discrimination.

    Pretty good position

Oct 4, 2015 - Seasonal Tax Advisor - Remote in Mountain View, CA

    Pros

Work from home. 401(k) plan. Possibility of qualifying for the Employee Stock Purchase plan if you work the right days. Seasonal positions available with the possibility of unemployment income in the off season. You can work from home so there's no need for special work clothes.

    Cons

Demanding customers. You're on the phone all the time so there's only break or lunch time. The pay isn't that great considering the qualifications you need. The schedule is unpredictable so you don't know when your lunch will be or when you will get off work as you may be on a call and you need to finish it.

    Pros

Work from home... decent pay. All the overtime you could want. Coworkers were nice. Most customers are reasonable . Retirement matching.

    Cons

Its only seasonal. Sometimes you have no solution for the client. Some customers are unreasonable. It gets old being on the phone all day every day. Survey system is annoying.

    Intuit - CPA phone advisor

Nov 6, 2014 - Turbo Tax Pro Advisor in Denver, CO
    Recommend

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Vast array of questions regarding technical tax advice and input advice for Turbo Tax software from customers all over the United States. Compensation was lower than desired.

    Cons

I did not like having to give input/computer advice for clients. Turbo Tax is a cumbersome software program and it is difficult to get people to answer questions correctly so they are steered to the correct input screens.

As seasonal Tax Advisor - Be flexible or go crazy

Mar 8, 2014 - Seasonal Tax Advisor Specialist in Mountain View, CA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Absolutely love the work. Need to be able to adapt quickly to changing computer programs, changing policies and have a great desire to resolve customer issues - whether they are tax, how to use the computer, or pricing. Each customer is unique. Decent pay, though only small bump in hourly wage year to year. So negotiate well when you are first hired. Receive annual bonus based mostly on customer survey results - if you can "delight" the customer, it can really pay off. 401k with company match even though seasonal employee. If you are 55 or better, match is fully vested immediately. All work is done remotely from your own home.

    Cons

Hiring and rehiring process leaves you hanging for quite a while. Usually don't know until last minute that you are being rehired and then it is very quick. When being hired/rehired you are able to pick from whatever shifts are available (open daily 5am-9pm Pacific during tax season). Choose wisely. Those are your days/times for entire season. No real flexibility from that schedule. Must supply your own computer, modem, internet service. If yours aren't the greatest, it will slow you down and drive you crazy. Since we are seasonal and work from home IT isn't very willing to help troubleshoot issues when they happen and they will. Helps if you are not only a Tax specialist, but also a computer specialist.

Intuit is an endless volumn of experience and knowledge that works well into the team. The vast experience of the support and management show at every turn.

    Cons

As a Remote seasonal employee, the drive to year round employment is of primary concern. The company is working on a solution to this.
