I worked at Inverness Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It was a great place with great bosses. Then the Financial Meltdown in 2008 and things got tough. Raises frozen, Matching 401k ended, Took a 10% deduction in salary, all needed to keep company going. My Division always made money at 25 - 26.5% ROI, but the other divisions did not. They laid off 300 people on Jan 26, 2012, and then sold it on May 1, 2012 to Warren Buffet, and Cookson, who owned Inverness went back to the United Kingdom.

    Cons

It was a Great Place to work, until the Financial Meltdown in other divisions of the company. They let the Best CEO they ever had go. Retired him after 30 plus years. After that they let my division VP go, despite the best year in 25 plus years of operation. They have been steadily losing money since then.

    Advice to Management

Not my place to question Upper Management, and I no longer work there.

I worked at Inverness Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good core group of people with high levels of competence. The business is a niche business and requires strong commitment to the company, the products and the customer base.

    Cons

Company was purchased by Berkshire Hathaway and has been mismanaged since then. Business focus has been lost and customer dissatisfaction is rampant. New ownership does not understand the business and has no interest in learning.

    Advice to Management

Sell the business to a group that understands the business model needed to succeed.

Peter Indiveri was the WORST leader a company could ever have.

    Advice to Management

    Let people do their jobs.

    Pros

The team environment created and fostered by Peter Indiveri complled people to do their very best for the company. He has proven leadership experience, was effective at developing talent and leading multi-disciplinary teams. Success was rewarded and recognized as earmed. He mentored managers to help them improve, but he did hold people accountable for lack of success.

    Cons

The company was not independent. It was owned by a Corporate parent company and management was prevented from pursuing some business opportunities.

    Advice to Management

This was one of the best opportunities for individual/team success. I wish it would have continued.
